  • DRK/NIN BEST damage dealer?

I think my friend is kinda stupid and he's a noob too. I asked him wat is the best damage dealer is and he said that its DRK/NIN 'cause DRK has a lot of damage increasing ability combined with NIN's duel wield ability + Blade: Ku skill (he told me that since ku is 5 hit and he has 2 weapons... he will hit 10 times... or sth like that...)

this is his plan... he only played FFXI for 3 days and he always search the net for this kind of information...

    IS THIS TRUE?

DRK/NIN wouldnt even be able to wield a katana, much less do Blade:Ku. Dual wielding a weapon doesnt let you swing with both weapons during a WS. If a NIN did Blade: Ku, it will always be 5 hits, regardless of how many weapons hes holding.

As for best damage dealer...theres a billion threads about that.

#1; DRKs don't even deal the most damage, RNGs noramlly dot the most. But, depending the mob you fight... MNKs can outdamage DRKs, same with DRGs vrs. wyverns, and I found that on a regular basis the WAR (me) is able to outdamage all other damage dealing jobs at my Lv. (It's probally due to the high Great Axe damage, Double Attack, Berserk and the Sneak'ed Sturmwinds... but, then agian, this is just at my Lv.)

      ,etc.

      ,etc.

      ,etc.

Square Enix, let alone any other game, especially in MMORPGs would purposly make one class better than another at something, when those classes are meant for the same thing. (Meaning: Square Enix wouldn't make DRK the best at dealing damage, unless he had some sorta' major flaw because, then, it wouldn't be fair to the other classes.) For example; RNGs normally deal the most damage, but, I've seen high Lv arrows cost up to and including 35,000... now, if those are your only arrows you can choose from to be effective, and it's 35,000 for a stack of 99... and 99 arrows go rather quick. Let's just say you got some farming to do.

Now, DRK can excell himself above RNGs in the damage department... but, he's going to do it, most likely gaining incredible amounts of hate, and being he has low DEF making him die, or, the Cure III spamming WHM die.

So, if you can see, everyclass has their up's and down's and that's what makes this game great.

But, no DRK/NIN isn't that good, if you want high damage, pick DRK subjob as WAR and when you hit 60 THF.

To me I don't even count Ranger's as Damage Dealer's after 45, I count them as nukers who don't have to backline. :spin:

I played with a Drk/Nin one single time, it was a really horrible experience (Though maybe thats just because the person was flat out crazy and a nasty player also) It sounds nice on paper but Drk's specifically specialize in Two handed weapons mostly, and other than Duel Wield there's not much else you can give to the main with a /nin sub thats particularly useful.

I think the best way to think about Sub classes is to not think of them as two jobs merging equally combining abilities, but to think of them as adding extra abilities to your main job only. Adding extra abilities to your main job that increase how well it does its specific purpose.
