I know very little about Ninja/Red Mage. I do know that its been tested and theoretically it functions relatively well. Nin/War's still top of the food chain, but its basically what Rakhir said, you use the En spells to match up with elemental enfeeble spells, and adding even more to that is if you can match up an elemental Weapon skill with all that for extra elemental piercing. There's also the use of other enfeebles other than your standard Para/Slow/Blind/Poison. I don't know if Red Magic enfeebles can somehow stack with Already existing Ninjutsu enfeebles. Its quite a mysterious combination, its not commonly used but its not commonly put down either since...not that many have really been able to try it around these forums at least.
The BradyGames strategy guide that was released with the NA release really overglorifies the combination making it sound quite powerful. But as most people are starting to realize that stragegy guide is kind of .....inacurate on many things...to say the least. (The guide says Warrior/Paladin is one of the best combo's in the game, which is total crack even I have to admit. Maybe I'm wrong..but..)
Generally I have to say that Ninja/Red Mage may not be that great, though I imagine it should have some itneresting purposes when more Red Magic opens up for the main, possibly around 55-60 and on. I know its used by some high level Nin/War's as an alternate sub choice for specific situations, maybe not exp pt play. (though maybe sometimes) It must be a killer soloing combo at high levels if you want to explore some of the harder dungeons on your own just to check it out, and arn't looking for a fight. In exp pt's perhaps its a little limited..
But like I said...I don't know that much about it. Maybe its like Paladin's in how they sub Warrior usually, but if your going against the undead Pld/Whm can make a pretty potent Undead killer for certain situations like quests and such.
