Future PS2 player here need some info...

If I plan on playing a ninja/warrior then do i start out as a warrior and switch to ninja later on when i unlock the job? I'm kind of lost how the advanced jobs work right now...

You can unlock any advanced job as long as you have a character that is lv30 or above.

So yes, you'd want to play war to 30, then switch to NIN. (You'd also want to level up your subjob for war (normally MNK though you can do NIN once it's unlocked).

You mean a subjob for war while i'm getting it to lvl 30 for ninja?

Correct.

Also, you'd want to get your WAR to 37 if you plan getting to 75 with your NIN. 75 / 2 = 37.5, so the highest level your sub can be is 37.

Well if i got war to 30 then i wouldn't have to worry about lvling it until my nin was 60 right?

Yes, you don't have to level to 37 right away. I'd actually wait until NIN is pretty high up to level WAR those last 7 levels. WAR/NIN is the best combo in my opinion.

don't be one of the lazy players i've come across pre30 w/ lvl 1 or grossly underleveld subs, there is no acceptable reason beyond lazyness. i've heard several people say when asked why they don't have a sub, they said they're going to be a dark/war or pal/war or something. lies, lazyness! everyone should have theif to 15 for at least solo farming purposes, th does make that much of a diffrence and theif is a perfectally acceptable sub to get to 30 for adv jobs, there ya go look at that, u now have a sub, your farming sub, and u can unlock advjobs w/o wasteing anything.
