Holding agro

Sorry ive looked around a little and i didnt find a post with this criteria(or how u spell:confused: ). How do nin/wars usually hold agro. Would u just spam throwing weapons? Debilitating ninjitsu? Or just let the blows fly. I know u use blink alot but that wont hold agro all the time soooooo yeah. :confused: :confused:

Here is a post that's probably the best for what you're requesting. There are also a few random posts here and then, but I think the majority of it is covered in that post.

I have asked a couple people in my LS who are in their 50s and 60s how they see NINs keep aggro when they're partying, and while they don't always pay the closest attention (mostly I ask the RDM in my LS, and... well, he has a lot to keep track of without watching how the NIN holds aggro, lol), and he said that when the NIN used ninjutsu besides Utsusemi, he (the RDM) usually saw the second-level elemental ninjutsu.

Keeping it short this time(for me anyways), keeping hate as a Ninja means a lot more than provoke and blink.

Throwing weapons: You can spam these, but thats really expensive in the long run. I think a better alternative is to time the use of these to make sure your keeping the hate stacked towards you. Use them by all means, they're really essential to the Ninja, but think of it as a hate keeping device more than something to spam for heavy damage. Unless your filthy rich..then by all means, throw them all the time. :D

Enfeebling Ninjutsu: These can make you harder to hit, and build up some hate. Give it a try to see whats more potent on what monster. Remember some enfeebles don't work on some monsters. As for elemental, find out what element the monsters your going after are weak to and enfeeble it if you can. I realize this seems expensive, and it is, but you don't use these nearly to the extent you use Shihei powder so its not as bad as it sounds.

Poison and misc effects: Poison, weither its from your own weapon or Jubaku, steadilly builds hate with its poison damage. When looking for Ninja weapons, look for ones with nice status effects more than pure damage. Weither its lowering a stat, or enfeebling it acumulates hate. Poison is a nice one.

All this and 30 second provokes should give you a good amount of aggro.

Well at 27 I started gettting hate form the enemy (wasn't tank) and the party had 3 other Wars in it, 2 Galka and Elvaan, and an Elvaan Sam. I always try to throw in between attacks and I guess that and my attacking together builds up enough hate.

I had Busuto and Small Sword Equipped and Windedge as my throwing. (Maybe teh poison effect as Kiyo said helped to.)

i had one of the best parties i've had ever the other nite at 46-47... nin/thf/whm/blm/smn/sam.

having been the thief, i was noticing the best way to hit with high damage combos is right before the ninja gets provoke refresh. enpi > 3rd eye > viper behind sam, ninja provokes, blink means the nin has enough pent up aggro to pull him right back. samurai could only pull it off otherwise with enpi/provoke or enpi/enpi which sucked when blink failed and the nin got hit with a special.

that or the samurai voked for fuidama, enpi, viper behind ninja, lots of damage off the pull and the ninja won't have a problem for a while.

as an aside fenrir is god. +3 to +5 boost on all stats O.o

And I hope he still does it. He posts his opinion and the reason for his opinion in a non-jackass manner. He is one of the best posters on the Ninja forum.

That doesn't mean that his posts still aren't hella-long though. :p

Its a strange trait in my family that we naturally type really fast. My mother can't use a computer to save her life, but she can type like crazy on it. 100+ per minute. Sometimes I don't notice just how much into detail I'm going when typing.

But I'd rather post something long and somewhat informative than just short "figure it out for yourself" posts.
