  • Leveling Ninja to use as a Subjob

I have decided to go thf/nin (I know it's not original but it is a lot of fun!). Right now I only plan on getting Ninja to lv 30. My question is should I even bother trying to blink tank? I have noticed Utsusemi: Ichi has a very long casting time and sometimes I have problems getting that second cast up during the fight. Also note I am a taru so I don't have massive hp to take hits without my shadows up. Currently I am level 14 and I am thinking it might be better if I didn't tank if my group can get someone that is better suited to the job. Also if I am not the main tank would it be a good idea to have blink up and voke off the main tank if he/she gets into trouble?

You have to time Ichi if you don't have very good evasion. Try and hit the macro just before it the mob hits you. Even though the mob hits you just as you start casting, it doesn't interupt. Also be sure your mages cast Blind, Paralyze, and Slow (not sure what level spells they are, you might be too low).

As for being the secondary tank, it takes too long of a cast time if you wait for the tank to be in trouble to start casting. When I'm a secondary tank in a party, I pull. Before pulling, I cast Utsusemi on myself. The mob rarelly gets Utsusemi off of me, that way I still have the effect in battle incase the tank gets in trouble and I help with downtime by not needing to healer the puller.
