Im a THF/NIN right now.. not far into NIN but the time and/or cost of NIN has really discouraged me. In fact, I even bought another content ID to work on a caster. My question to you is, is or was Utsusemi: Ichi worth the gil/time to get? Im starting to rethink how I enjoyed being a thf, and Im trying to get out of this pit of discouragement and just bite the bullet. Where do you farm to get enough money to pay for all the zinc ores to get this quest? I only plan on getting Tonko and Utsusemi Ichi.. is that enough considering I was just going thf/nin?

If you don't want to spend too much gil on Zinc ores, try to farm worms. They'll drop the occasional Zinc Ore. Also, hunt worms near other farmable mobs. In the process of farming Zinc Ore I earned 120k Gil so I decided to quit farming the Ores and just buy the scroll. However, now I'm able to do the quest and I'll gladly sell it back to the AH.
And imo Utsusemi is the only scroll you "need" Tonko is for sexiness, I think. And all the enfeebling and elemental spells are icing.RDM70 - PLD62 - NIN46 - THF43 - WHM43 - WAR38 - BLM36 -
To get enough norg fame you need to do about 30 zinc ore quests. This will run you roughly 25k gil. You can get this by perpetually farming in zeruhn mines. Kill everything, especially worms as they drop zinc sometimes. Collect zeruhn dust and bat wings and flint stones. All sell very nicely in AH when stacked. Between farming there, and running back and forth to talib you'll make that gil and finish the 30 quests in no time.

I did 25 zinc ore quests and some other random Tenshodo fame quests and had fame and enough to spare for Tonko: Ichi, Utsusemi: Ichi, Leviathan, Jubaku: Ichi, Kurayami: Ichi, and Dokumori: Ichi quests. I haven't tried Hojo: Ichi (because I don't have the damp scroll), but I'll probably do that when I put NIN on hold at 24.
Rice balls in Jeuno (at the inn before Tenshodo HQ) were 155 gil when I set off for Norg and did Tonko/Utsusemi. The rest were later, but I didn't get any other Norg fame between those periods.Comment

I did the zinc ore 32 times and the tenshodo fame quest. I did not hunt for my own zinc ore once. I was able to get the riceballs to 150gil.
How do you do the other quests for the other scrolls other than tonko and utsusemi? Im interested in getting them. Do I have enough fame to do them too?Comment

6.. I think, of the ichi ones are bought at a vendor there, also there are two quest givers for 2 more ichi scrolls on the hill before the mog tunnel. They want 10 rusty subligars and 10 rusty leggings (feet).
There is also a woman in the back.. take a right as u enter norg, up and around the ramp, in the door one the right with the guard, then first door on the left. She wants you to go to Yhoator?.. jungle (2nd one from kazham) and fill a water jug or something. You have to go on chocobo and find the ??? around F8 (it moves), jump off the chocobo, fill it up, then get back to her in norg somehow. Bring invisibility, gobs see sneak.. or just die if you want.
The last one I'm not so sure about, I haven't gotten it yet. But here is a copy-paste
"Fish up the "Damp Scroll" in Sea Serpent Grotto or buy it in the misc section of the AH and talk to Shivivi to initiate the quest. Go to Horlais Peak and trade the scroll to the Hot Springs to finish the quest."
Shivivi is a tarutaru in norg I think near the woman, and Horlais Peak I have no clue where that is but I read its near GhelsbaComment
