G-katana bad at early levels?

Other day I heard a higher level ninja makeing fun of someone for using a Gkatana...

Now granted my ninja is only like 13 (poorly leveled sub) .. but I seemed to enjoy playing around with one...

There a particular reason for his comment?

Well, you're not as skilled with it and there's no dual-wielding.

Not sure if there's an inside joke I'm missing.

Well my paticular thinking was there is not a dual weild upgrade for quite some time.. thus no real advantage untill later levels.

Just a simple question to see if maybe there was an extreamly obvious reason I was missing...

Nah using GKs are fine actually. Its just that there aren't that many NIN can use, so sometimes you'll go about 10 lvls before you can use another, and when you do get to it, your skill will be low for a while so your dmg will stink til you get it up. Not to mention, most of the mid-high end ones that are NIN/SAM useable cost a bit more than the SAM only ones.
