Multiple people doing the Quest

I've been searching for days on Garuda for high level help to do the quest with no luck , so I'm going to attempt to find a ton of people to help with it. However I'm sure several people will want to finish the quest if they get involved so I was wondering can multiple people take the item for the quest? Do the leeches spawn everytime someone new touches the ???? area? Do you need to kill the leeches for each person in need?

Figured I'd ask the community before I even attempt. This quest is driving me nuts already, lack of help sucks. People don't want to leave the higher areas for a moment to help someone out if it doesn't help them. Maybe it's just this world... :mad:

I wish you could do this quest in stealth rather than brute force...

You can bring a group with you to defeat the leeches yes. One person, and be sure to discuss with your party who it is so everyone doesn't run up and touch it (not that I know what happens if everyone does touch it, we were careful to only have me touch it. Just in case.), touches the ???. Then everyone kills the leeches and then everyone can touch the ??? and get the coral.

Thanks for responding, but I couldn't wait. 2 other people in my linkshell decided they'd like to do the quest too. Apparently the coral is a key item and everyone can take it after the leeches die, even if they are raised afterwards. I was afraid that the item was rare and only a single one popped every time the leeches died.

We had a bit of bad luck while fighting the leeches. Our group wasn't exactly the best one for this. At the start we had our paladin (level 32) use sentinel and touch the ???? to spawn to leeches. They easily got her life really low and the whm (level 45) spent a decent amount of mana to get her back up which caused a lot of hate. It was really hard to pull all three leeches (1 was slept, but it woke up fast) off the whm and he died at the start of the fight . Towards the end the paladin used her 2hr (mmm more hate) and fell after it wore off. The rest of us (Me - level 30 war, two level 30 thieves, and a level 32 drk) survived with very few hps left each. This was easily the hardest fight I had been in.

Basically if anyone wants to know what the fight is like, go to batallia and fight three Very Tough monsters at the same time with your group.

At 30, if you have a 31 BLM with Sleepga (will land with Elemental Seal), or a 30ish Bard, you can do it.

Otherwise, you'll need a mid30s+ group, or help from a higher level person, to tackle all 3 leeches at once.

And yes, you only need one person to trigger the event, and then everyone who has the quest can obtain the key item afterwards by re-inspecting the ???.
