  • Six level 30s able to do quest?

I've read over the posts here, and listened to advice in game.. But everything says something different. Some posts say they had trouble with three or four high level people helping, some people say a good group of level 30s could do the quest.

So, which is it? I need the Ninja for my subjob, and my friends will be getting their advanced jobs soon as well.. I don't want to get left behind because while they're off leveling their new jobs, I'm stuck trying to find a generous group of level 50+ people to baby me through the quest.

So, here's the setup. It's most likely going to be me (a thief), a warrior, a monk, a redmage, a blackmage, and a whitemage.. There may also be another warrior and another whitemage tagging along, depending on when we do it. All of us are level thirty or just above. Do we have a flying chance in hell at getting me the ninja job, or am I doomed to non-ninjadome forever?

And if I -do- need help from people with high levels, if any of you are on Quetzalcoatl...

I'm not sure if the party you mentioned can take the leeches or not, they killed me pretty quick as a lv 30 war and I wasnt even trying to fight them >< I got help with my quest from a lvl 60 ist dragoon and rdm. It might be easier just finding someone in bastok to help you. Here's what I did and I managed to get people to help me in about 20 mins. First make sure you have the quest done to the point where all you have to do is get the coral.

People who can help you will normally be anonymous so dont bother trying to search for lvl 55+ etc. Instead goto the AH in bastok mines and look for people in AF. Tell to them using the auto-translator. somethink like Ninja Quest Please Help m(_ _)m
should get the message across. Most likely they will since the tunnels are a stones throw away, and plus if someone does help they are likely to know exactly where to go which is of great importance. It's best also asking a rdm, as you will need sneak. Either that or invest in a few silent oils, as you'll need them to get to norg anyway.

if you can keep the ones you are not fighting asleep, and get enough people hitting one (with some dia 2 help) and you take them 1 by one a full group might be able to do it, we did it for a friend of mine (after I had gotten help) with an alliance of 12 and only lost 1 person.

        hope that helps.

We had a group of 4 30s, a 56 WHM and a ??? MNK in AF armor. The monk told the lv 30s to stand back and he and the WHM cleaned up the leeches.

You don't really need multiple level 50+'s per se, just one fairly high person, able to heal/rez and put out decent melee.

For myself, a 58 dark / 25 whm helped me do it, he solo'd it.

The reason you want someone who can raise is, pretty much as soon as you click the ??? you're going to die to the leechs.

While i do think it might be possible to complete with a full PT of level 30's, it would be one hell of a fight, you would absolutely need crowd control to stand a chance, and people will probably die.

Probably alot safer with a full PT of 35's.

            (or 1 level 55+ melee/raiser)

Well, I initially went down there and a nice level 70 monk helped me do it. Afterwards, I wanted to help my fellow LS members get the quest, so me and the party I described above went down. We also had the extra whitemage and warrior, so there were eight of us total.

I came up with a pretty simple plan. Using elemental seal and sleepga, our blackmage AoE sleeped the three leeches. Once this was done, we all focuses our efforts on a single leech. I had the idea to use the warrior 2 Hours at the beginning of the fight rather than the end, so that we could try to cut down on the number of leeches quickly, thus lessening the damage the party would be taking.

Things went well initially. We killed the first leech, moved on to the second, and had it down to about half when the last leech woke up and went straight for our blackmage. Before we could even react, he was dead. At this point, someone smashed Ctrl G and a badass high-level Black Mage swooped in an took out the remaining leeches before they could kill any more of us.

After we raised our blackmage, Bits (the super cool blackmage who saved our butts) joined our party and helped us defeat the leeches.

So, for those of you who think it's impossible to do with level 30s, it is -- you just need to plan ahead. For instance, thinking back, I would have liked to bring along another blackmage who's sole duty would be crowd control and the occassional nuke, because once those leeches wake up, all hell breaks loose.

So, my recommended party for people who are doing this? Two warriors, to take the brunt of the damage (also for their vital two provokes in case things get away), a thief who can get fuidama to work perfectly every time and knows when to do it.. As I said before, two blackmages. Definitely two whitemages, because these leeches are viciously powerful. Our redmage and monk seem optional, but I think the assets they brought to the party were great. The monk's 2 Hour decimated the first leech and was instrumental in taking it out quickly. Redmage for backup cures, enfeebling (which is a definite plus), and that added melee damage when you need that extra punch.

All in all, it's difficult, but not impossible. Handled properly, a competent party with a plan that accounts for all variables will win this fight. A party of six level 30s? Possible, but I'd rather be safe than sorry and at least level a bit or get a few more helpers. It's not so much safety in numbers, as it is setting out specific roles for everyone.

Sadly, I didn't take into account that the leeches would aggro the blackmage as soon as they woke up, so he was gone before we knew it. So, learn from my mistakes, and you and your fellow adventurers will be able to earn the right to be a ninja without the help of someone twice your level.

P.S.: For anyone who's wondering why we didn't just try again after raising the blackmage, was that he died twice -- the first time, and then again when the High level BLM tried to Raise him during battle so that he would get credit for killing the leeches. Those two deaths caused him to level down to 30, which made using sleepga impossible -- which tore my plan down real quick.

                Party of level 30's

Hey we managed to basically do this with a party of 30's, and we did it in brute force. I had a horrible time finding help for this, and just decided to try it out with a group. However, our group didn't consist of planned out formation. It was a level 30 war (me), two level 30 thieves, a level 32 drk, a level 32 paladin and a level 45 whm - basically anyone I could get that was interested in the job. Just like your Blm our whm got wasted instantly after curing up the paladin in our group (who triggered the leeches, with sentinel up). When the mage went down in a split second, I could hear a collective jaw drop from everyone in my team and then we responded with "kill or be killed" tactics. A Massive abilty throw down. With out that whm we had to get those things dead, and dead fast. By the time the last leech fell, there was 4 of us remaining, all totally drained of mana/abilties/potions etc. I think I might of had the highest hps at 79 (which is like 3 quick hits).

I got help from a high lvl jap dragoon. He was around lvl 60+ and had whm subjob though he was anonymous he helped me out easily, his health got brought down from ~1000 to ~800 and easily took the leeches out, I took a few hits that put me down to around 200 but the hate was mostly drawn to him and of course I got in a few good hits with my 2hour (war)

this is actually possible with a group of 6 30's.
When my group did this quest, we found out that with sneak, you can hit the ??? and run away, and not pull the leeches, then it is possible to soul voice+lullaby one of the leeches from a good distance, and pull the other two out a ways, elemental seal+sleep another.. then kill the unslept one, run back to the first one slept, kill it, then run back to the third one. But that's pretty much the only way we have found it to be possible, you have to have at least two characters, either blm, rdm/blm or brd that all have sleep. and you have to pull each leach away from each other, so that you earn yourself some time inbetween when the leeches wake up, and when they attack your group.

noone in our party died, but it was definitely not easy. Everyone has to know exactly how to play their part.

If you ask me, it's easier to just wait around for an hour if necessary searching for a 55+ player to come help you, but a word of advice if doing this. Use sneak to hit the ???, whether it be the spell, or a potion. That way whoever is helping you doesn't have to pull leeches off you, and you can just stand and watch the carnage without getting hit .

hope that my experience is helpful.. take care.

I suggest having all the mages drink juice and cast regen on the tank before you trigger the leeches for extra insurance.

Get a party with a whm or rdm and a sum , bst or someone with a summoner subjob.
Cast sneak on everyone, touch the ????, then run away.

Then get the pet class to send their pet to attack a leech , then run far back and let it die to the leeches.
The leech the pet attacked will then come to you and the other two leeches will stay where they are.
Kill it and then repeat it for one of the other leeches. Then go kill the final one.

By doing this and you won't have to worry about the leeches sleep running out. The only problem is trying to find a sum or bst.
