  • Ideal race/job/subjob for Ninja

i should think race would be between elvaan, humne, and mithras.

and job would be thief or warrior?

    comments?

Well since Mithras are the ones with the AGI and DEX which you want for Ninja id think thatd be the ideal choice. Thief's extra DEX and AGI boost will help a lot too because this is mainly an evade and attack job.

Mithras for race between the 3 you listed...

Idea sub is Warrior... as it's been stated many times already that a ninja's role eventually becomes Blink Tank... as they excell in no other roll that another job can't do much better...

Ninja is also the most expensive job in the game...

Yes so i have heard a million time that the best sub for a ninja is a war and i would have to agreee that they would be most effective but it doesnt matter about being the best and if everyone listened to these people and picked the "ideal" sub job for their main then the world of vana diel would just be clones of people. so i think you should pick a job you like and then pick a sub job that sounds fun.

Woodworking, Clothmaking, Alchemy can all make different ninja tools for the Ninja.

You'd be spending a lot of time crafting if you want to be able to make all your own ninja tools (and probably not too practical).

As for race, Mithra is probably the best (Then again, since Ninja seem to be tank, surprised people don't want them as Galka) Best sub for blink-tanking is WAR, if that's what you want to do with it. Nin/THF works...but you'll probably be mocked a lot for it, and won't get as many invites.

This Ideal crap is were most of the people that are not cunning enough to figure out combinations that work just as well. Same as almost every tank required to be WAR or have WAR sub, when the relativly same result can be achieved using the THF's Sneak + Trick Attack to draw the monster's hate. Only you have to be a bit quicker to get the hate back then with provoke, but provoke won't be as required if the battle is being properly controlled from the start.

It's this Ideal crap that ends up boring someone because there are a million and one clones of themselves...

He specifically asked about "optimal". It's fine if you don't want to play your ninja that way but that's not what he asked about.

I think it's a choice between mithra or galka. Mithra gives you the best AGI (58 @ level 50) for evasion. Galka gives you the most HP (980 @ 50) for tanking.

Normally i'd say Mithra is the best race for any melee class, but the exception is tanking melee. Extra HP is important for tanks and you'll be tanking as both your main and your sub. AGI is always good to have but monsters have lots of spells & special attacks that can't be evaded. It's also easy to get a few more points of AGI (or better +evasion), it's difficult to get an extra 200 HP from an item.

But you should consider what other classes you'll ever want to play. Galka eliminates all the mage classes unless you're very rich.

There tends to be more ideal choices for each class but ususally each race has at least a few strengths in something. Don't be *too* cookie cutter now. :D

To me, this is the race description for Ninja's

Ninja/Warrior: Evasion and Agility are very important stats, Dex helps because throwing weapons are the Ninja's most powerful offensive tools, Katana's are for small but steady damage. With the 45 and 65 Duel Wield upgrades Duel Wield can be very quick, endless pain. But for the most part it shouldn't be treated as your main damage source.

                    Races:

Mithra: Obviously, they have the highest Dex and Agility stats of the races. That high Agility when coupled with evasion and agility equipment (Really a must later on) makes blink tanking much more cost efficient, as well as reliable as you will just plain dodge every other hit, only a few landing to take out a shadow image. This can give you time to do other things to keep hate and deal damage. Remember to spread it all out as Ninja's are a class of ingenuity, judge for yourself weither so and so <t> needs some paralysis or some slow to make you harder to hit. Main disadvantage is your atk power isn't the highest.

Tarutaru: Many are under the assumption that the Tarutaru would have a harder time with this job, like they do with other melee. These people arn't thinking enough. The Tarutaru have the second highest Dex in the game, and they're agility is almost the same high rating as the Mithra, a very very close second stats wise. This means that a Tarutaru with great accuracy/agility/evasion equipment using Throwing weapons will outdamage an elvaan with ranged with the same equipment. High Agility means that you'll have a similar package to the Mithra, having the potential to be a highly successful blink tank. Ofcourse your main disadvantage is like the Mithra, you don't have the highest attack, but in the long run unless your Galka or Elvaan, the difference is really minimal. Proper planning and equipment can offset this fine. In the Nin job the Tarutaru's few physical strengths really shine. Also, your magical prowess will make gaining Ninjutsu's skill levels easier I think, don't take me up on that last one though. But I heard that Tarutaru Nin's tend to level Ninjutsu easier than the others since its a form of Magic, Magic with no mp but magic nonetheless.

I'm also a Tarutaru Nin/War, if anyone gives a damn. :D And if you've ever seen a Tarutaru Ninja in AF (Like on POL's XI page. w)maybe even you'd be tempted to try it out.

Hume: Hume's never do bad in anything, but to be really great you may have to go the extra mile with your equip to push yourself in a direction. Since Ninja is a spread out job stats and abilities wise, Hume's do fine as Ninja's from what I've seen. They have a wonderful balance of Atk, Dex, and Agi to make them solid blink tankers who do solid damage. The Ninja seems like a Hume born job, so naturally they're pretty ok at it in general. :D Hume's weakness is as stated above, in order to really excel you may have to push yourself a bit more.

Galka: Galka's can tank no matter what they're class is really, even a little. That extra Vit and HP ofcourse will come in really handy, and a Galka's Dex isn't the worst in the game. That mixed with good attack power, and the best agility/evasion equipment you can get can make Galka's fearsome blink tanks. Some of the best blink tanks on Ragnarok are Galka. Ofcourse your weakness is that your not the most elegant class, you have mediocre agility compared to the others in exchange for that extra vitality. But you'll be harder to knock off balance and easier to get back into your momentum.

Elvaan: Elvaan Ninja's in Ninja AF are one of the coolest looking things in the game. That alone's reason to want to try to take Elvaan up. The Elvaan has better Strength and Vitality, much more focus on offense than Galka though. With Elvaan Your attacks will do the most damage of the Ninja choices, which could almost make up for the fact that your throwing damage wouldn't be quite as high as the speedy classes and the hume. Also Elvaan have the worst Dex and Agility stats of all the classes, making blink tanking a much more tougher process, even with equipment. The first levels as Elvaan Nin will be difficult, but after Ni, if you really take care of your equip and max out agility/dex/evasion/or even ranged as your strength is just fine. Elvaan Ninja's could be a fearsome thing later on. You won't be nearly as fast as the Mithra or the Tarutaru will ever be, but if you can get to the advanced Duel Wielding abilities that little boost in damage could make you a Ninja who can keep hate and give solid damage to boot. Something no one can ignore.

All the races have potential in the Ninja job, you just have to know how to bank your strengths and cover your weaknesses. :D

Also remember that this pertains to Nin/War, the main Ninja combo. If the use of alternatives at later levels becomes more well known some other races may be better off than others. But I have no experience there so I can't say..

                      well written.

                      /clap

however you forgot one thing, something everyone should know.

no matter how much gil you have or what race/class combo you use; if the player sucks, it doesnt matter what race youve picked or what equipment you have. you'll still be a burden on your PT and will always be a loser.

this holds true for all jobs.

just dont suck and you will be fine.

Interesting way of putting it, since they both have the same DEX.

Is it Agility? Maybe I'm confusing Ranger weapons with Ninja weapons. I know Dex and Agility affect the ranged weapons attack power, but maybe Agility affects throwing. It was a bit late when I typed that so I probably wasn't 100% accurate with minor things like that.

Oh and remember, I should of mentioned this earlier. If you choose to use Thief main or Thief sub, remmber that Dex and Agility affect the damage of Trick and Sneak. One effects one of the other. Was it Dex=Sneak and Agility=Trick, or the other way around?

Thnik 2 agility gives 1 ranged accuracy and people also guess it gives 1 evasion...... 2 dex gives 1 melee accuracy and greater critical hit chance

not sure about which stat is used for trick/sneak modifier ....but yea they have a modifier. However, its only used when thf is main job, you lose the bonus with sub. Just becomes a guaranteed hit/critical
