Ninja/monk is shit and does nothing for you.

Thief or Warrior are your options.
I really should thank you for it afterall it was your life that taught me the purpose of all life.....Purpose of life, is to end.

    I hate my life.

But wouldnt a Ninja/Monk be extremely fast, and have a lotta HP?

Monks do also have deadly hand to hand combat skill to match the speed, which could be very benificial to a Ninja, which employs stealth and evasion, as well as dexterity.

I'm not sayin it to be the best, but I like challenges of skill. It's my interest as a martial artist as well.

I'm sick of people dismissing certain variations as "shit" without presenting a detailed analysis. I don't have the game yet but when I hear people talking like that I start to think "rabid fan boy". Why not discuss why it would be shit?

I don't play the game yet but I'm importing it from the US on release and from what I understand, whilst a ninja/monk would lack any real defensive capability wouldn't they be one of the best melee damage dealers in the game?

Personally I'm going Ninja/thief as I like the skills involved. I'm sick to death of one side saying "ninja thief sucks" and "ninjas aren't tanks" and "ninjas are tanks". Who the hell are we supposed to take seriously. For the love of christ please explain yourselves, us noobs can't read your thoughts.

            Kirashi says "Ninja/thief is shit"

But Vivid is a ninja/thief (I understand he thinks ninja/war might have suited him better) as are many others. In fact from what I understand, most ninjas take the ninja/thief path though it doesn't matter what they do as both variations are different playstyles and thus have different roles in their parties -_- ...

Ninja/monk sounds interesting, has anyone actually tried this combo and if not could someone who understands the job theory of both sides please post a detailed evaluation.......

              Ninja / Monk -

The Ninja will gain extra HP , more vitality and dexterity,
HP Boost x2, boost, dodge, focus, chakra and martial arts x 2.

All passive skills. You will also notice a good increase in attack but not so much increase in defense. However you do have dodge and chakra to fall back on. Combine with Blink Ninjitsu and the proper evasion gear and you will be fighting even check critters when others can not.

Martial Arts is the skill that increases attack speed. Or decreases rather...

Yes, Ninja / Monk is a solid combo, however it is not optimized for groups where the Ninja / Thief or the Ninja / Warrior would fill a better role. Or a Thief / Warrior for that matter, Monk / Warrior etc.

Ninja / Thieves bring damage and treasure hunting to a party.

Ninja / Warriors bring a back up tank to the party. Often enough PROVOKE is the most important ability in the game.

              Hope this helps.

That was an awesome post Emilee. I like the solid combo and I already have a very competent group I play with regularly so im not really concerned if outsiders dont wish me in their groups or not.

The Martial Arts passive abilities only decrease the attack delay for Hand-to-hand weapons. Since Ninjas are kinda terrible with hand-to-hand weapons, it's not a useful ability to have. Maybe like thief, it'd work out pretty well until mid-20's, but Katanas are nice weapons with useful weapon skills. Your first ws can start a distortion renkei, so there is no need to neglect katanas early on lke thieves neglect daggers.

Dodge would only really be a useful ability if you were tanking, and you can't really tank without provoke, so that ability is moot in a party setup.

Can't go wrong with focus, but you can't use that until lv.60.

On paper, it seems like a very good sub for soloing, though you'll probably be soling to get money and drops, so Thief ends up being better anyway :/

Still in the process of alternating between subbing Monk & Warrior and I'm finding that I lean more on my Warrior roots.
Just as Mithrael stated, I find that my Katanas are far more useful
than my Claws, which max out quickly for Ninja unfortuantely. I love using "Combo" because of it's reliability to not miss but my
Katanas can Paralyze a mob which is nothing to scoff at. I've also
noticed that my "Agility" is actually higher with Warrior subbed.
I feel having a higher Agility in the long run may sway me away
from the Ninja/Monk because as an Elvaan/Ninja I want to make sure my Shurikens find their mark at least some of the time.
