  • Let me get this straight...

Concerning the dual weapon ability, doesn't it work like this:

I have 2 katana's equipped, lets say they're both the same. They do 20 damage with a 250 delay time each.

As a Ninja, I should hit with both, then wait 250, then both are ready again, then hit again....and so on.

Is this how it works, because this is how it worked in Tactics. Both weapons are independant of each other right?

Or does it combine them? As if your hitting with a sword that does 40 dmg and 500 delay. Technically thats wrong, as i can hit with each after 250, why they'd do it this way is beyond me?

    So which way is it?

Also, on-screen, is your character shown holding two katana's?

im alsmot positive it wont double it...i also dont think they will act independantly...that wouldnt happen because im sure duel weild is a skill that you have to work up, anyways i think what will happen is your primary weapon will just be normal hitting, and the better your skill gets, the more often your secondary sepon will swing, it was like everquest, where if your kept working on your skill, the secondary weapon would swing more

Well, duel-wielding works a little more like this:

Your character's base strength (with no weapons) is 100.
You have two 1-handed daggers/swords/katanas, and each adds 25 to strength and has a delay of 200.
You equip the two weapons, making your total strength 150 (100+25+25).
Your total delay is added up to 400.
When you attack, you hit for the strength of 150 x 2 every 400 delay, as opposed to 125 every 200 delay.

      150 DMG x 2 = 300 per 400 delay

      2(125 DMG x 1) = 250 per 400 delay

Another thing that makes dual-wielding nice is the fact that certain weapons give bonuses to stats other than strength (like extra DEX or accuracy) so if you equip two of the same weapon, you get twice the bonus.

You might want to ask Vivid though. He probably know more about dual-wielding. *Nods*

          150 DMG x 2 = 300 per 400 delay

          2(125 DMG x 1) = 250 per 400 delay
Thanks Maxim, but this was the only thing that confused me.

Is this comparing the two? The top is how it actually works in the game and the bottom is how I thought it should work right?

If that is it, I can see how the way it works is superior to the way I thought it would work.

It's a shame that to use dual wield the delay is so long, but at least the damage is big. What's the average delay time on a 1H katana anyways?

Also one more thing, maybe Vivid can answer this: Is your character model in the game shown holding two swords/katanas when you're using dual wield?

          That's it, thanks.

The one on the top is how much damage dual-wielding would do when both of your weapons hit. The bottom is how much damage it would do if you were only using one weapon and had it hit twice.

              Dual Wield: 150 DMG x 2 HITS = 300 DMG per 400 delay

Mono Wield: 125 DMG x 1 HIT x 2 TURNS= 250 DMG per 400 delay (originally 200 delay but in order to compare it with Dual Wield,, you have to multiple the turns twice and add it all up).

And as for two weapons being shown, yes, they are. The ninja is on the right. This is a pretty old picture.

If you were a NIN/WAR and the WAR's double attack went off, would you attack four times or three times?

my friend is playing ninja and he mentioned ninja become better at duel qielding too. he said he noticed himself swing faster and faster as he progress.
can anyone confirm this? to me I really feel like the delay of 2 weapon is less than twice really.

                            Man, I am somewhat confused.
You guys actually make the Duel Wielding sound useful, but in the Samurai thread, they say its one of the most useless things in this game...

It's useless to samurai because they use 2H weapons.
