  • Ninja Taru.. prolly sux but oh well

What woudl the pros/cons be of a TaruTaru ~ Ninja/Black Mage?
Othr than the horrid STR, what kind of bonuses (if any) would there be?
I've got black magic and a short fuse. BRING IT!!!

    Pros: Good agility
......... Very uncommon race and job combination

Cons: Ninja isn't that great of a class to begin with
......... You have bad fighter AND bad mage stats
......... You have much too little Mp to cast spells effectively
......... Can't function effectively, in either a solo or party enviroment

Basically, it's a very poor job combination. If your planning to be a BM, you basically have to have BM be your main job. So, that would mean your a fighter. And the problem with that is you have poor stats from being a Taru Taru and the fact that Ninja is, so far, one of the worst main classes in the game.

Basically, Taru Taru need to be a mage to function effectively. Now, you might be able to be a good PLD/WHM as a Taru Taru, but that's about it.

    Sorry.

lol, yeah i knew that it wasn't very great to begin with, but there's always a Moogle to change that.
Oh, and does the Dual Swords skill apply to all one handed weapons, or just swords and axes?

haha, yeah im not so sure about actually staying ninja though
playing most of the jobs and finding my favorite is what i'll more than likely end up doing.

Yes, it applies to all 1-h weapons.

And I suppose a pro I could have added was that Chibi Ninjas are cool/cute :p. Seth is right on that aspect .

                not all 1h weapons....

what you can use depends on your sub as well... it's true, you can use most 1h in deul wielding if you're subbed war... but if you sub blm, count on only using your 1h katana (which i'd recommend in any case).

however, there are a few myths here... lemme explain:

Ninja is one of the most under-rated jobs in the game, not the most useless. Here's the facts:
                1. it's useless to those who don't know how to use it
                2. (for you pvp fanatics) a ninja can beat the living crap out of a paladin of the same lvl.... with the right 'tools'
                3. most people who say ninja is useless don't know how to use it.

                Here's the lies:
                1. ninjutsu sucks
                2. ninjas suck
                3. i suck
If you read my ninjutsu list in the ninja section, you'll (maybe) catch the "true power" they have. but usually the elemental ninjutsu is good only for PT's.

                Dear Tsai Dun,
a taru ninja/black mage is sorta useless. rather than that combination, i would recommend ninja/warrior or ninja/thief, both of those work out nicely. i don't see many taru melee jobs out there tho for the main reason that taru's aren't the greatest melees... however, anything is possible. i'd say that your chances on getting into PT's are just about as good as mine. and if you were wondering, im a ninja/thief and level 40.

                love,
                Vivid.

yeah i guess i can't speak for earlier levels but i've PTd with many either NIN/THF tarus or THF/NIN tarus - both i found to be great. at some points they were even forced to tank in emergency - and believe it or not they held their own nicly/ yeah they took hits like no other but the thing was they wern't getting hit much =\ as for the ninjitsu - if it's used well it seemed very effective. they used it to seem to break the enemy down a bit in the beginning of the fight then pummel it afterwards heh. the taru arn't quite as strong but seemed to make up for it with their dex. since they landed more hits than not - they built TP quick enough to keep up with the multiple renkeis we were doing. i duno i say throw the crap you've heard about ninja tarus out the window - i was satasfied with their performance in my 40-48 PTs and if anything else. . . they're cute as hell -.-

Not quite sure what you're talking about exactly, but subjob has no effect on what main job can equip. Subjob will allow you to have skill levels that are as high as the sub, but not allow you to equip that weapon type. Example: BLM30/WAR15, let's say a 15 WAR could have 2h sword at a skill level of 45. If you checked your BLM's skill window, you could see that there is a skill listed for 2h sword, which is as high as your sub would be able to get to, assuming they can use that weapon type. BLMs however, cannot equip any 2h swords, so the points in that skill level are useless.

If you made a Tura ninja/monk would that work out since monks have high hp and vit? also monks can counter and accumulate so it cant be that bad right?

they do indeed have a lot of HP but not so much vit =\ and counter wouldn't serve as that great of an ability as you don't want the enemy taking many swings at u as a taru ninja lol. but yeah u could do it i suppose - acumulate would be nice - the fireball at later levels would be as well (much later if ur subbing it)

How much does Ninjitsu magic cost. I wanted to create a hybrid character that had spells. Ninja seems to be the best way to go for this. Instead of Sam/Rdm. I think i'll go for Ninja/Thief taru taru just cuz they are to d*** cute.
Do not fear death but don't forget it either. It remains by your side at all times. But once forgotten it jumps out to remind you of it's presence.

depends on the scroll.. it basically goes:

                              1. buy ninjutsu scroll to learn spell
                              2. buy corresponding powder to use spell
