Ok if i make a ninja chances are im going to make it a Mithra but im wondering what seconddary class i should have and i need an opinion...

Im between Ninja/Monk--------> Ninja with martial arts skills, and will be strong.

And-----------Ninja/Thief----------> Ninja whos faster than already is and has theiving moves and evasive skills.

I'm more for Theif because since Ninja can double weild i was planning on using 2x knives or 2x short swords or a throwing weapon, and i beleive monks can only use fists.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Can somone tell me some of the throwing weapons they have in this game like Shurikens or something like that.

ninja/mnk ----> useless. martial artist ability helps with punching type weapon ei grapples. but no ninja puch.

    ninja/thf ------> is a *little* more useful.

right now every ninja i've PT with so far are ALL ninja/war
... probably because im a THF right now. when there's a real THF, you need other fighters to be able to taunt in order for the real THF to successfully sneak+decieve attack without too much trouble.
when there's no THF and already the PT has 2 taunters atleast, a ninja/thf might be ok. but that's not gonna happen too often.

everything jei says is true, if you don't keep your own pt with you, you're basically skrewed on the pt invites... lucky i set up my own... i'd still be lvl 33...................

and if you ask me why i don't just go nin/war.... it's cause i hate war deeply...

however you look at it, the most useful combo is nin/war. you can use nin/rng or nin/blm if you have your pt set up a certain way but considering how cookie-cutter pt formation is, you're really better off as nin/war tank.

like previous people said, /mnk does nothing for nin. martial arts skill helps h2h atks but ninja h2h are rated E i believe, plus you dont get some of the better ws later on such as howling fist, dragon kick and asuran fist.

nin/thf isnt great as well since your atks will be so weak compared to other classes that you wont draw hate so your evasion bonuses dont really mean anything. nin ws dont really hit that hard even with sa-ta. there are always other classes that can do it better.

you can throw boomerangs and chakrams but their dmg will be pretty meager when fighting xp mobs. shurikens do better dmg but if you dont have the gil to support buying/crafting shurikens, then that option is out too.

i suggest that if you want to be a dmg dealer then be something like a mnk, drk, war, rng or thf. im pretty sure when anyone sees a nin, they expect them to tank.

Pretty much what everyone says is true.

You must have Ninja/Warrior in your job resume, a person who wants to play Ninja truly has no choice in the matter, its like the standard. You can play with other combinations if you wish, but Ninja/Warrior is the bare bones essential Ninja combo, you must have this or you don't play Ninja, its as simple as that.

It comes with the package. Its like having Black Mage without a White Mage sub, or a Paladin without a Warrior sub, or hell, even a Monk without a Warrior sub. Its just something that has too many uses to just say "I won't do this".

Even so though, leveling up Warrior is doing yourself a huge favor. Level that job up to at least 30-37 and you have a great and ready sub for Ninja, Dark Knight, Monk, Samurai, Paladin, Dragoon..

And even though /Ninja is a popular sub job for Thief and Ranger, /Warrior is also just as viable. So in essense, getting the leveling or Warrior out of the way as soon as possible saves you a ton of trouble. And the Warrior job itself is hardly bad either.

Ninja/Warrior is an awsome combination though, /War compliments Ninja's general abilities near perfectly. Ninja's arn't one hit kill wonder's like /Thf attempts to make them. Subbed Trick and Sneak Attack from Thief doesn't do nearly as much damage, and although some jobs like Dark Knight use /Thf past 60 too don't let that fool you, its because they have extremely powerful Weapon Skills. Ninja's Katana Weapon Skills are more like a boost to your damage over time than overwhelmingly powerful in damage, so it goes together with Sneak and Trick badly. I just don't think Ninja was designed to have Thief as a sub. The Ninja in this game are more like speed and cunning based full frontal fighters than sneak assassin like things (Which is actually sorta closer to how a Ninja is supposed to be..) If you wanna be an assassin type of thing, you'd have to be a Thief. Ninja's are counter offensive tanks most of the time in this game.

Ninja/Warrior lets you use the shadow image abilities to they're best to negate damage, and the double attack and damage boost of berserk coupled with fast Dual Wield is where a Ninja's real damage is. Ninja also have the second best evasion in the game, which coupled with shadow images and enfeebles make them even harder to hit.

As far as damage goes, Its about quantity over quality. Think of a Ninja as a walking ambush, make the enemy's offense useless and at the same time, deal decent damage. Even when not tanking, Ninja/Warrior is far superior to most other melee subs. When completely loaded with attack orientated gear, the multi hit nature of Nin/War is pretty good.

Ninja/Ranger and Ninja/Black Mage are also rather successful job combinations. Ninja/Ranger is sort of a variety/ranged dot fighter while Nin/blm's purpose is to enhance the damage of Ninjutsu to its maximum potential at the cost of some melee ability. But they're very expensive to maintain a little more challenging to use, not recommended for new players. Although even if you used either of these two, you should still have /War sub leveled and complimentary equipment for it. Even people who use Nin/Rng and Nin/Blm still have Nin/War at ready.

I dunno if this has been posted, but it looks like you're looking for a THF/NIN.

All the evasion of a NIN, the style of a MNK (two weapons), and strong job abilities like Sneak Attack and Trick Attack.
