Question about monk weapons

Well if you want me to think logically you dont want that.........being a martial artist myself a fist can do far more damage than a claw.........it's all in how you use it, conditioning, etc.

However I take it that you mean claws are more effective in the game...........

well these monsters dont have the same anatomy as a human, and a claw can do alot more slashing damage then a fist ever could. So you can think of it that way :p

Don't make the game too complicated.
For example: what would you rather happen to you, get punched in the stomach, or get stabbed with a knife in your stomach.
That's the way to think of the game, although it would be cooler to watch a someone beat the crap out of a monster with their fists. I'll be a monk before I get my DK so I'll be using claws.

monks can only use claws as weapons right? O i almost forgot....how is the monks new ability energy ball(?) or something like that...

In any case, just like I said in the other thread about Weapons, I'd rather level up Grapple (bare-handed) and Claws, both of them. So then I would be effective in Renkeis and such even when bare-handed.

Are there any Techniques that only Grapple can use or the WS for Grapple being great, or is it the same?

The monk has several passive abilities that "increase attack time for grappling". Would this skill apply to claws as well? If not, it might be better to fight bare handed. Does anyone know?

First of all, don't confuse grapple and claw...they are one in the same (translated as Ši“¬ (kakutou = hand-to-hand))

Yes, this bonus applies for ALL grapple weapons (claws, sestas, katars, patas, etc.). Not using a grapple weapon is foolish. You'll be minus the damage bonuses and other potential stats boosts. There is NO advantage in fighting bare-handed.

Monks can use grapple, all job 1H Staves, and some 2H staves

Energy Ball (Kikoudan) is EXTREMELY effective if you accumulate several times before hand. My max damage with it is 267 damage. Though Ceis has told me that he crammed so many acc.s into it once he did 400+ damage O_o

Without accumulate, it only does 20-40 damage

NOTE: Kikoudan has a refresh time of 3 minutes
