what is skill chain? MNK skillchains?

I was wondering, since i basically forgot about everything in Ffxi, what is a skillchain? and how does a MNK help the skillchain, i know this is newb, but can any explain to me, or give me a link to a already posted thread about this. Thanks

Skill chain is basically an order of weaponskills and magic bursts that melee fighters perform in order to get extra damage out of their weaponskills.

ex: Tachi:enpi >> Viper Bite

At the end of a weapon skillchain, a mage can perform a magic burst on the mob to inflict more damage of that certain element.
