  • The Road to Brown Belt

    Started Yesterday.

I only had 30 minutes since I spent the whole day camping Rampaging Rams and Lumbering Rams.

I started with Deadly Dodo, who is suposedly a lottery pop from Tabar Beaks in the Capmaign. They seem to take forever to pop. It drives me nuts!

Anyway, wish me luck. I can't wait to own my own belt.

i would say concentrate more on getting Morbolger because he's a 21-24 hour spawn.
Since the change of the archers rings from stroper chyme it's easier to find out when he pops (a least a rough guesstimation) by looking to see who's in Ordelles.

Your best chance usually comes after maintance (but everyone does that).

I have to agree with Peucritond. Concentrate on Morbolger. If you can't get the ToD for him, then a camping you shall go.

If you can get Marbolger, head to Nue next in Beaucadine Glacier. You want to get these two done first as they are in the most out of the way locations for this quest.

Nue and Dodo are said to have bad drop rates.

Bring a Thf with you if you can.

On my 57THF at the time, I went 1/1 on Nue, 1/2 on Dodo and well marbolger doesn't count because it's a 100% drop, in a timeframe of 6 hours. I'm set for when my monk reaches 40.

And then when you get your Brown belt, you have the Black belt to look forward to getting

I'm thinking the opposite of you guys, get the easy stuff out of the way first. I figured Dodo was nearest, so I went for him, plus I only had a few minutes left to play that night, after getting purple.

if you got inventory space to burn sure go ahead. While the others have bad drop rates it's nothing like trying to camp for that damn vine.

As far as BB, if you can get into the really good hmnls then you'll get one eventually. On my server, the kings have been pretty muched owned by one of three linkshells.

I did Nue/Dodo first, then the malboro last. Back then there wasn't massive camping for him, only gilsellers killing him because he's an NM. >_> So I didn't have much problem getting the malboro...after I figured out the ToD.

dodo spawn is particularly annoying because its such a wide area, and with cock meat farmers running aruond sometimes, it can be troublesome. his drop rate was not good for me. i killed him about 8 times, some spawns taking an hr some taking 4-5 hrs.

nue wasnt so bad b/c he seems to spawn pretty quickly 1-2 hrs. took me about 4 times with him.

morbolger was all luck, i happened to be logged at ordelles right before a maintainence happened. when i logged back in, he was just sitting there.

                good luck!!

Re: The Road to Brown Belt

I used the cockactrice farmers to my advantage. I offered to party with them and we'd mass-kill all the cockatrices in the area. I get Dodo Skin, they get all other drops. The cockatrice meat and skins are nice drops for gil, but if I'm camping an NM I want that NM's drop and then I want to get the hell out. Anyone I propositioned jumped at the chance. They doubled their drops and walked away smiling, and I had help claiming an NM. Additionally, they were generally subbing THF for farming.

Nue is very systematic. There are rarely many people camping it, so if you know the pattern you have the advantage. There are 3 placeholders. They can pop as either a Tundra Tiger or a Living Statue. You will never get 3 of one mob type. Sometimes you'll get 2 tigers, 1 statue. Other times you'll get 1 tiger, 2 statues. Nue is a lottery pop on the Tundra Tigers, so it'll never be 2 Tundra Tigers and 1 Nue. You can use this to your benefit.

I just got the Dodo Skin.

Some Summoner was trying to kill the Dodo when I showed up, and getting mauled. I tried to strike up a conversation, but he was mute, so I just waited for him to die.

We could have lotted on the skin, but he didn't want any part of me, he kept running away, taking Dodo out of his spawn area, I was so worried he would De-pop before I could voke him.

                          Well, one step closer.

NMs don't despawn when they're pulled out of their spawn area. A lot of people don't seem to know this; unfortunately there's no time to explain it when someone zones Guivre on top of your Kuftal party.

Most certainly since I know he had to have much higher jobs.
