Here's a hint, you can't use subs in Maat fight.

Yeah, /whm was used before talking to Maat like I said, to quickly refil HP bar after eating carbonara (since sub doesn't matter, why waste time resting to full?).

Grats on kinda beating Maat, lol. What strategy did you (or your friend) use?

i was getting my but kicked by Maat on a regular basis. I would use Dot set ups and carbonara +1 Icarus, and the usual fare sleeping TP so on so forth. Then when i fnaly beat his butt, it was by a fluke in equip change.

I went in slept Tp ate food used blink band. My gear was my VIT set up though lol no str. I beat him only using raging fist once. ended fight with 164 hp lol.

Couple of suggestions:

Level up to 70 (obviously). More level = more HP/stats/ATK/skills.

Boost > Chi Blast is fine, ignore the above poster. The only way this would be bad would be if you ran out of time, but that's not an issue for MNK in this fight. Maat will use his Hundred Fists when he feels like it; your job is to make sure your Hundred Fists + Stun Jamhadars is hopefully stunning him once in a while and slowing him down.

Use a Blink band (headgear, gives 2 blink shadows). This buys you 2 free hits and a few extra seconds to fight.

Add Persikos Au Lait and Vile Elixir (maybe even Vile Elixir+1) to your arsenal. Persikos will give you HP regen (again, buying you more time to fight and survive), and Vile Elixirs give you an instantaneous shot of HP in a crisis, but are fairly expensive. Remember that you only ever have to win this fight once - price should not be a consideration.

Monks dont get any extra skills between 66-70 that would help them in this fight. Maat however does. He gets Asuran Fist later on.>.< I am 66 and trying to beat him now. Gone in 3 times.. once I almost had him.. probably would have if i hadnt run outta hi potions ><;; however while fighting him instead of Asuran Fists like he normally does at 68-70 he uses Howling Fist. I was trying using Hi Potions +3 cause they work fast will try the Persikos though.. If anyone has any other tips please let me know. I am using Shiva's Claws for fight. .they add Paralyze instead of stun but I am a poor mithra lol so yea its not an easy fight for me and I dont have the gil for extra weapons. Honestly everything I have read says the same thing but I think the problem I am running across is geriatric old geezers should not hit that hard. 200-300+ dmg each regular hit. What can I use to kinda curb that? Also I saw one thing where they were almost TNL like 20 TNL and used a dragon chronicles page to level in mid fight when they were getting low. Dunno cast time on that though... well .. I will stop ramble and go test hunting in hopes someone replys to this. ^_^

I suggest you make sure your guard and evasion are capped. When you go test hunting ask if you can tank the mobs. that should help. The throw some VIT into your gear set up. That should help you a bit with damage he does. Those are the two things i changed before i beat him. Good luck.

I've been told that Maat can use any of the MNK ws at random, like if you're unlucky, he'll Shoulder Tackle you right when you use Hundred Fists, and you get screwed for 3-4 seconds of it it..lol that would suck >_<! But...the only strategy I would change...is using Chi Blast, I use it in every exp party and I have mnd gear to go along with it...it's an awesome skill and if I actually keep track of my boosting, I do at least 500 damage with it right away...the only mnd gear I use is Devotee's Mitts, Justice Badge, and Saintly Ringsx2...the reason I say 'only' is cause I haven't gotten any more yet lol...other wise your above strategies seem good to me :D

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I think I may have figured something else out >< i just noticed exactly how much def Counterstance takes away and I was using that. was dropping my Def from 304 to 44 >< much with the Owie. >< gonna try again soon without counterstance and i got my Eva Capped now and my H2H so hopefully that will help ^_^ will let yall know what happens ... now i just need to go make a bit of gil to afford to fight him again ><
