  • Is mnk good for a duo?

I play to spend a lot of time in a duo with my wife. We're just returning and hadn't made it that far into the game before we left last time. Would a monk work for me (with her as whm) or should I stick with something a little tougher?

mnk is sorta good duo, but not really very effective till late levels.

And teaming up with a whm isn't that good, a mnk and rdm combo is better,

If you ever get to 74 though, mnk/nin duoing with a mage is very nice, utusemi +B in eva+ counter+ high damage = take on a lot of things.

Basically duoing with a whm, you're better off with a nin/war

monks have always been incredible tanks for anything low T and under, so I don't see how you could go wrong with this. It doesn't matter what your gf plays as long as it has a cure spell. The Ideal duo of the game is prolly nin + brd or better yet, 2x beastmasters. But who cares about absolute ideal? Mnk will be better than war, drk, thf, or any mage, so all the power to you.

P.S. just don't duo with a smn or bst. I've found that pet users only seem to work well with other pet users when it comes to duo/trio.

          Thanks everyone that sounds good.

I think I'll go either mnk/war or mnk/nin while she does rdm/whm or rdm/smn (for extra mp).

The nin + brd sounds like an interesting idea. I had planned to level nin at some point anyway as a main job to take on tougher things.
