    Re: Chi Blast

Never used it much after the novelty wore off during exp except for a few things such as finishing off a mob that's almost dead ( when say your rdm dies and it's used hard shell or whatever 10x, ghost mobs in krt etc.) or to pull.

      Re: Chi Blast

I'm a Chi Blast maniac, I love being allowed to use WSs when I want, and until the mobs start hitting me for 200+, my goal is to pull hate every fight without provoking or spamming boost. That let's me know I'm doing my job pretty damn good. But as for Chi Blast goes, can't say much, just like saying Random Things relevent to the area of the forum but usually not important to the subject.

        Re: Chi Blast

I never had much chance in chi blast, I can only get 2 or 3 boost in before my puller gets us a prey, and since I am taking hate with normal attacks, I avoid using high chi blast.

One time, I boost 10 times+ because our mages were out, so we were waiting for full to get another chain cycle up, I didn't notice I boost 10 times, threw a chi blast, and tanked for 1st half of the fight =_=; Cover + Me turning away + endless Cure spam + Flash + provoke spam couldn't get it off me...

Learn to do 12 boost chi blast, you will need that in Maat.

          Re: Chi Blast

Ugh, never thought a chi blast was a so complicate ability. I just use it for pulling or as first attack before engaging the fight..... (even before the voke of the tanker)
          Signature, ah!

pad the parser! charge it a lot when you get AF gloves, they help a ton. you should be able to get at least 200dmg every 3rd mob or so :D hell even if you do it once a chain, still nice for xp^^

              Re: Chi Blast

Chiblast is like the MNK's way of still being useful on NMs and such. I remember a long time ago, when I was just following a few friends when a THF pulled Amikiri from out deep to the rock (Died in process, but got an R3 from the NIN's mule - yes, mule) NIN then voked and started kiting ... around and around and around the rock.

His JP BRD girlfriend kicked in with her songs and I was asked to just apply assistance (Bio 2, Stun, etc) MNK would boost up and hit Amikiri for about 1,000 and then zone out. Then start again. It was our only means of putting damage on it while it was kited and fortunately Amikiri didn't have any regen abilities (Or if it did, it was too weak)

                Re: Chi Blast

Chi Blast is undoubtably good versus many kinds of tough NM and HNM, but it definately has its place in a regular EXP party. All the way from 41 to 75 it can massively add to your total damage output if you are willing to put in the time to make it effective.

First things first - Chi Blast damage is affected mainly by two things:
                1) The ammount of MND you have when you use the actual Chi Blast ability.
                2) The number of times you use Boost before using Chi Blast (you can stack up to 11 or 12 Boosts before the entire Boost effect wears off, resetting the damage).

Your initial Boost starts a three minute timer where your increased damage will stay. Once that three minutes is up, you lose all accumulated Boost damage for your Chi Blast.

Basically, you want to get in as many Boosts as possible before the three minutes run out if you want absolute maximum damage - this is what you would do versus a NM or HNM.

In an EXP party though this isn't the case. You should definately be Chi Blasting at the start of as many fights as possible, but restrict yourself to between 3 to 8 Boosts. The reason is that while you will do big damage with more, you will also become the main tank and your mages will struggle to keep up with you. This is inefficient and your party will slow down because of it. A nice solid number on every second or third enemy you fight will add a respectable ammount of damage and gain little hate. You will usually be able to pull off a 3 or 4 Boost Chi Blast on every other enemy your party will fight - this is exactly what you want. Basically its 100% free damage for your whole party and you didn't have to do anything besides hit a Boost macro a few times to do it.

Just use Boost while your puller is out getting the next target, and Chi Blast it as it comes in and engage it normally. Don't worry about how many Boosts you got in, because just using Chi Blast in the first place is extra damage on the enemy.

You can even use some +MND gear macros before the Chi Blast to increase damage (although don't switch out your main weapon in this situation as you will lose all of your built up TP). Against NM or HNM you can just equip a high MND weapon like a wand or a stave since you won't be hitting the enemy physically in this type of situation.

Easy equipment to macro in in an EXP situation are things like the Justice Badge and Promise Badge. Use something like this:

                /equip neck "Justice Badge"
                /wait 1
                /ja "Chi Blast" <t>
/equip neck "Spike Necklace" (or whatever else you are wearing on your neck to fight with)

                Its that simple.
