..I noticed you are a taru mnk. I just started a new person named Monx on Ramuh server and wanted to know if Taru MNK's get good as they get a higher lvl. thnx. -g.wolf

Unfortunately, I can only tell you about the experiences of a Tarutaru Monk at the lower half of the run, as I only have it leveled as a sub for my main job, Warrior.

While Taru MNK is definitely tons of fun, I've noticed that it's even harder than Warrior to keep up with because at lower levels Monks not only wear less defense-heavy equipment, but rely more on pure strength than stuff like weaponskills.

A friend of mine who quit recently played Tarutaru MNK to end-game, and all I can say is that I was amazed at what he could do. While the restrictions of race can be intimidating at first, as you reach the higher levels and more equipment becomes available to you, the gap between natural statistics grows less offensive to someone hoping to do something like Tarutaru monk.

In the end, it's all personal preference. While I would recommend going for Taru MNK if it's what you want to do, I would also recommend keeping another Taru-friendly job, such as White Mage or Black Mage, up high as well, and to invest in a craft, as you'll need as much money as you can to get that equipment which will even you out with other races.

Im a Tarutaru MNK lv.52 and im loving it. The one thing you HAVE to do though is keep your gear upgraded all the time. you cant slack or you will be doing 1-5 points of DMG a hit. The things you must focus on is STR+ and ATK+ ACC is nice but as a taru ur ACC isnt that bad. and if u need ACC eat some sushi. For food eat sushi if you need it but if you dont eat meat mithkabobs or meat chiefkabobs. A Taru MNK is lookd down apon but people underestimate us. As long as after lv 20 you can solo a EP and keep you HP in the white ur a Good MNK ^^

So far MNK is my favorite job.

ok thnx all, MNK has always been my fav class. But this is the 1st time ive tried being one as taru so i dont know what to expect. Ive heard that since tarus are lower in strength, they wont make good damage dealing fighters. But i wouldnt care if thats true. so far its awsome seeing something so small able to kick ass

I'm a lvl 75 Taru monk

It is great. The damage differance is very very little.
But you NEED to sub War to be realy strong.

Example.
At lvl 75 in a bones party with a elv mnk friend.
64+21STR (Taru)
70+18STR (Elv){if i remeber right}

Blow for blow the damage was very close.
80-130 a blow 195 crits
My asurian fist averaged 800-900
With Dia2 900-1200 damage

He had better gear them me to top it off.
Only differance was my DEX. 70+21
H2H skill of 282
He had 20 more acc then me and was using sushi
and I was using bisonsteak

I could pull hate off him at anytime as could he pull it off me.

Every party Ive had from lvl 10-75 people have always be wow'd by my damage.

So far my best damage as MNK/WAR was a 1472 Asurian fist to a 1472 Darkness in a BCNM Operation Desertswarm
