War or Mnk first?

Right now im a 10 Galka Mnk (no sub job, my highest char), and Im reading all these posts about how i should just go for warrior until 18 first and then do subjob quest, then go and play mnk/war for a while cuz ill be wanted in PTs.

Should i go back to war until 18 or just stick to monk until 18?

I assume you want to be a MNK as your 1st highest level job?

Continue on your MNK til you got subjob... Do it in reverse:

Normally, the best idea would be:

WAR18 -subjob-
MNK37/WAR18 -Stop at this point, because you will have an underlevel sub
WAR37/MNK18 -Stop here if you only want WAR as subjob, as lv37 is more than enough for subjob

In your case, you could do this:

MNK18 -subjob-
WAR37/MNK18
MNK75/WAR37

Though, you may want to consider leveling THF for alternate sub(after 60), and the farming subjob(Treasure Hunter, Steal and Flee(THF25)).

This is pretty much what Cali said, but if I were you I'd do this;

MNK to 18, get subjob.
WAR to 37, with MNK subbed.
MNK to 50, with WAR subbed.
THF to 25. (this is to help you farming)
MNK to 60, with WAR subbed.
THF to 37. (at MNK 60, THF now becomes a viable subjob option)
MNK to 75, with either WAR or THF subbed.

I wouldn't worry about leveling WAR first, it doesn't really matter. As long as at all times your sub job isn't under leveled then you'll be fine.

well the only reason right now im just gonna go for warrior first, is because i hear monk/no-sj is not desired in groups, even early on, so im just gonna go for the war until 18, get pts easy, get sj quest completed, and then go back to my monk (who is currently lvl 10) then ill have the 10mnk/5war ready to go until 30's

Most people I know that have low opinions of monks got it from taking subless monks to the dunes.

The benefits of a sub isn't much at that level, but it certainly hurts monk a lot more than warrior if you are subless.

So I guess I'm saying... You'll have a better time in the hell hole known as Valkurm the first time through as a warrior than a monk.
