unfortunately for us mithra, DEX doesn't contribute much to accuracy. it mainly contributes to critical hit rate.

yes, you will need sniper rings.

Funny, my hits land more often than a hume WAR who have snipers on, when I only have a life belt to boost my acc I don't see much of a problem of acc as a Mithra, a few misses can actually help me not outhating the tank, since I have a hard time controlling my hate, with just focus+berserk+boost+raging fists.... I wouldn't want my hate to skyrocket when I am hitting 99% of the time... and that statement apply to all the tanks I partied with >_>; I wouldn't dare to say remora has crap tanks.

Sniper rings on a monk make your moogle cry. I've never had a single sniper on my monk at any time and it has never hurt my preformance. A life belt and your jujitsu gi will be enough. If you feel your are wiffing too much, just tough it out. Everyone falls into a wiff fest every so often

RAstatus - Yes, mithra MNK need ACC+ and no, the jujitsu gi isn't enough. With a life belt, however, you'll be fine until your high 50s. Lucky for you, thats when we get spectacles. DEX rings? oh hell no. STR rings all the way.

iglak - we don't know that DEX doesn't contribute to ACC+. There is a growing belief that accuracy is a function of both ACC and DEX.

The life & str rings vs brown & sniper's is an age-old argument between MNKs, and the solution that works for you is the right one. I personally hit 75-80% of the time according to my parser, which puts me above nearly all the melee I pt with.

Cali has a point, too. I already draw hate from every tank I pt with. The -DEF from sniper's wouldn't help in those situations. I do enough damage to piss off tanks already. If a BLM or RNG pulled hate as often as I did, they wouldn't be doing their job correctly. Why should I be held to different standards? When I hold hate from the tank, I take a LOT of damage (even with berserk cancelled and defender on). This forces the healing mage to spam cures on me, further skewing hate. I'm not advocating MNKs gimping their damage, just saying we should be very aware of hate mechanics.

I have no idea how the hell this has anything to do with the original post. Time for another beer :-\

I prefer Brown Belt and Sniper's, the +8% haste plus the spell haste gives me a 20% deduction on my attack speed (currently have a delay of 360+96=486, so 48x2=96, my delay is about 390 with the spell haste) Plus I get the 10 acc and the 5 STR.

For mithras, I dont think they need snipers.

Life Belt + 2 STR (Or DEX rings if you want to be safe) = Great

No one needs Sniper's to be a MNK but most have +20ish acc overall. There's several ways you could do this. I'd sujest havin Sniper's or Specs and leave Brown Belt alone.

it depends on the pt actually.

IF you are, the top of your level ranking in the pt, and fighting low ITs. hitting isn't a problem.

IF you are in the lower spectrum it might pose a problem.

                  If you're fighting IT++s then it's a problem.

IF you're in a leet pt that goes after high evasion low def, and IT+,

Then you need every scrap of acc out there.

A lot of the key to getting high rates of xp is about those high eva low def monsters.

As the old joke goes, Crabs were never good xp, only NA xp.

But really, you'll have to figure where a bulk of your pts are in.

I'm Elvaan, so I guess I can't fully help with this topic. But, the mobs get much harder to hit as you go along. Toramas in Onzozo is one example. If you have a Bard, you could probably get away with it. I currently have +36 in Accuracy gear and sometimes struggle when we fight IT++ Stuff.
