Monk Gear-I'm still confused...

It's come to my attention that most higher lvl MNK's on my server use either Temple Gloves or Kote for their hand slot, and not giants gloves. I don't know if this is out of lack or cash or not, but I have had some issues deciding my gear set up for the end game :|

what I want to use:
Vishnu's Cesti
Optical Hat
Spike Collar
Coral Earrings
Scorp Harness
hand slot <----SO CONFUZED!
Sniper's Rings
Amemit's Mantle
Brown Belt
lvl 72 pants <.<
lvl 72 boots >.>

This set up is +11 STR, +30ish acc, and +30ish attack I think. Now, keeping in mind I'm Elvaan, I'm confuzed on what I should use as my hand slot:Ochido's Kote, AF gloves, or a giant bracer? :| I could easly keep a kote and AF gloves for whenever I need to use one or the other, but since I'm Elvaan, I don't need to worry as much about my STR long as I get +15 or more with a mithakbob right?

If you're using Vishnu's, then you'll probably need a big chunk of +STR to offset the low +Damage. A MNK in my LS uses a fairly similar equip, (only he's 67 and doesn't have much of the uber-expensive +accuracy gear) and he uses Pallas' Bracelets along with his pair of Vishnu's.

At 74 my:
STR is 71 +32 (after food/pallas bracelets)
Acc is +15 (with the option of adding another +15 at the cost of ring and belt STR)

I think the gigas line is very valuable and increases your damage greatly... but unless you have some serious +acc it may or may not be worth it at level 60.

The higher in level you get, the less you need +acc, and the more you need +STR. My PLD was making fun of my hate last night because we pulled a low VT Spartoi warrior and I was hitting him for 120 a fist and did an 1100 damage Dragon Kick (with warrior sub). That doesn't happen on IT's, but honestly the IT's are getting sparse at level 74.

If you are super-rich... Pallas would be nice to have in your inventory post 60, but I think you'll find youself using less accuracy-detrimental gear until 71+. Kotes, AF, Pallas are all good choices.

I was also thinking of a set up like this:

Spartan's

Coral Earrings
Scorp Harness
Pallas (they cost around 1mil on my server, very decent price for the bang, the +11's are 2millish, I don't think another 1mil is worth 2 STR though )
Sniper's
Amemit's
Brown Belt
lvl 72 stuff

this gives around the same acc and attack, with +18 STR. I could take off the sniper's for another +8 STR, but I really love those things Also from my estimates this will be a very leathal set up as it is, has STR to raise max, attack to make my avarage higher to that max, and lots of acc to hit the mob fast. I'm thinkin this will be a very good set up (might get those +11's later on to make it +20 STR though,just cause that looks better )

Black Belt would require me to do the Brown Belt quest and make a huge amount of Norg fame, plus be able to make the raids and win the NM's that drop the items needed for it sure it's nice, but realistically it's beound my reach (I'm in Korea so my NA LS does most raids when I'm not on)

I talked to a MNK on my server who told me with +17 STR they notice no difference in dmg per hit really from Vishnu's from Spartans and their WS dmg didn't suffer much, thinking about this now:

Well... like I said, my set up is now +32 str, and when I was at +27 str, Vishnu's weaponskill and per fist damage was much lower than spartans.

So... unless your MNK friend has a different definition of "suffer" than I do, I think you'll be disapointed in them.

Someone else on these boards said it very well- Vishnu's were meant for pure DPS and to induce fast TP gain things like asuran spam in Dynamis.

I tried almost that exact set up, actually, minus the scorpion harness. By the time you reach 72, you really won't need the +5 acc from scorpion harness, and if you really had that much money to blow, see if you can find a 100+ goldsmither to make you some Manoples +1. THEN you would be damage king.

Vishnu's are fun... don't get me wrong. But when I used them against bone (with the setup you show) my static PT warrior was closing light chains on spartoi with Decimation. THAT'S how much Weaponskill damage you lose. With Vishnu's, Decimation > Dragon kick.

Basically I use Narasimha (I can't justify Vishu's for the extra 350,000) for too weak > ep mobs. No real noticeably dmg decrease per fist, and you attack a second faster per 2 punches. That's beautiful with a nin sub, let me tell ya.

In xp, however, it's all about your +dmg. CC's, Spartan's, Feral's, Indra's, Koenig's, and Avengers all would have WS dmg devastating the Cesti on ITs.

alkys (lvl 70 giga bracelets) are good, +11 str pallas are +8 or 9 I think? My monk friend used vishnus, he had good dmg but pimp gear like you exactly the same except specs on nec amemet +1 and 2 triumph earrings, he didnt have scorpion harness but, if your willing to drop 6.5 on it might as well pay the 20 for kirins osode and be a true pimp^^

few things I want to point out here:
1.The +11 ones are 2.3mil and increasing on my server, the +9's are like 800k, I don't think it's worth another 2 STR.
2.I'm not buying the scorp harness;I'm in an HNM LS, Genbu bleeds Venmous Claws, I'll just lot on one in the future when I need it.
3.You can't buy Kirin's Osode.
