Monk Help? :D

Im currently a taru, persueing the Monk career, this is my first "High, well going to be" level Job, Im wondering, would the gap between the Taru MNK and elvaan monk affect in a battle? Like if I was fighting, and got killed as a Taru monk, and that mob had 2 HP *Just a number* Would that extra strength decide if I would of won that battle? *SAME gear on the taru mnk and elvaan mnk*

IMO an Elvaan MNK is better than a Taru in every way possible

As a taru you will definitely have to focus on building up strength, but any race can perform any job well depending on skill and equipment.

my question.. what skill does MNK require? other than the count to three then macro thing

you'll definately need the best to keep up with an elvaan or a galkan, but as long as you keep up with your gear like you should, you'll be an effective mnk. The hardest part will be your early leveling, as there's not alot of terrific gear to really help out until 30ish or later, at least. by 40, if you can get brown belt, snipers, jujitsu gi, and the rest of the nice gear, you'll do fine.

Any class can pursue any job and be decent at it, but of course you're going to have to overcome two things. The first and most difficult will be overcoming player stereotypes. Chances are you're going to be passed up for quite a few invites because they see you are a taru monk. Second, even with the best gear possible, you're going to fall short of other classes. Monks are sometimes expected to tank (whether it be holding the mob's attention for trick attack or just handling the aggro you've gotten from WSs) and this is where taru will fall short big time. One of monk's strongest traits is being able to handle some aggro thrown their way and even be a 2nd tank if shit hits the fan. This is where a taru monk will find the most difficulties, in my opinion. To me a melee taru seems like a waste of MP, because they aren't really built to be melee. Not to say it won't work.. because I've seen galka black mages do their job decently. But clearly, in both cases, other races are simply better.
