A glimpse of MNK heaven

NOTE: I'm describing my experience in Mission 5-1 so if you consider it as a spoiler. please don't read further.

I was standing in Jeuno the other day, LFG. It was so boring and since the weather was bad fishing while waiting wasn't getting me anything. I was just about to give up and log off when I heard a shout for Mission 5-1.

I'm only lvl48 MNK but I thought I'd give it a shot since I knew the mission was a lvl50 cap BCNM type fight with a skeleton NM and smaller skeletons. Talked to them and they said it was fine. I guess having the Teleport-Vazhl crystal helped. I was surprised when I found that the PT was only MNK(me), MNK, BRD and PLD. Off we went to Fei'yin. These guys were 50+ so didn't have much problem en route. I was slowing down the group a bit coz of small aggros >.>

After we reached our destination I heard the battle plan. BRD sleeps the NMs minions, melees take on the Lich, PLD goes first with 2hr and the MNKs follow with hundred fists. All the time I kept wondering about who was going to heal us and if I would hit hard enough being 2 levels lower than cap.

We buff up, run into the battle field and fight starts. BRD does a good job of putting minions to sleep. PLD starts tanking and is doing a good job with his health staying away from yellow. After a minute I hear a shout "2hr NOW". So the MNKs Focus Berserk and let her rip, Hundred Fists.

Bang! Bang! Each hit does 90-120 dmg. Maybe the chiefkabob helped. We see the lich's health going down.. down.. down... dead. I'm shocked. That was quick. Next thing you know we set a new record. 2 mins 33 seconds. Someone told me server records are reset after maintenance, but the record doesn't matter. The fact that we did it w/ 4 ppl and this setup is what makes me happy. Heh I should have believed them when they said it was going to be a piece of cake with 2 MNKs.

Now I'm looking forward to leveling up my MNK no matter what it takes :D

PS: This may or may not be the best setup for this battle but I believe that you'll increase your chances with a BRD. The minions can take a lot out of the tank and ideal solution for us was putting them to sleep.

first time i did 5-1 was wif 2 mnks and 1 rdm

3 hundred fists, the fight was only 1min 30secs

M5-1 is easy. And a mnk paradise. I remember when I was lv50 or so, doing it for everyone I knew, which was probably 8-9 times. We just kick so much ass on skeletons, that it's not funny

You will enjoy levels 65-75, they go very fast for the mnk job With 2 mnk and a bard, exp is very fast

Also, on another note, glad to see another Sylphite in game . And yes, Samtp is awesome ^^

Yes M5-1 is a nice fun mission. san d'oria M6.2 is another mission where you fight bones.

BTW, brd isn't at all necessary for this fight. As long as you have some means for everyone to survive for 1 minute, and you have two monks, it's a piece of cake.

6 MNKs with Hundred Fists x 6 would go kinda fast. MNKs do well in this fight, but I think the thing has crap defense anyway because I pulled a Tachi: Jinpu on it for 776 damage. I don't know if I could do that on too weak things with 300% TP. This was with Berserk and a mithkabob. Used sam 2 hour, but it was the last weaponskill, so only on 100% TP.

The sam 2 hour makes each WS use only 100tp but it also makes the WS count as if it used 300tp.
