  • Chi blast vs SA+TA dragonkick

This a question for some NMs with trash monsters around them you can build TP with.

If you can build TP to 300% and boost your attk to 999 will SA/TA dragon kick be more useful vs Chi blast? If anyone has tried this plz tell the results or give insight. Thank you.

But doesn't Sneak Attack guarantee atleast the first hit connects?

A good Chi Blast will outdamage any WS at 300% even with SA+TA on it.

With the proper setup (MND gear) you can do over 1000 damage regularly, even to powerful HNM with high DEF.

I see, but I would just like to know if boosting your attk to 999 with SA and dragon kick would make it a lot stronger? or no?

a crit. half-damage dragon kick @ 999atk will net you maybe 400-500 dmg give or take a few hundred
that's only half of the potential chi blast

Oh i was unaware that dragon kick was a critical attack, I thought it got stronger as TP grew. If thats the case i guess building tp to 300 % wouldnt make much differnece ~_~

                    Ok i'm lost here.

From what I understand TP moves that do critical attacks have a better chance of criticalling the higher the TP you have right?

If WS isn't a crit and you have 300% TP are you saying damage won't be added the higher TP you hvae if you combine it wiht sneak attack?

How much would something like Dune boots help with your damage in these situations?

I don't think its ever been proven Dune Boots affect Dragon Kick damage - I doubt it does, its just like any other WS you use (Combo and Raging Fists feature kick moves as well, do they do more damage too? Not likely...).

                          ok to start from scratch;
it is improbable and inefficient to gain 300%TP w/o SAM SUB
and gaining TP off of nearby mobs isn't clearly the best choice if the HNM requires you to use the "Chi Blast" method.

MNK/THF is nice but wont even come close to the 'oomph' a MNK/WHM chi blast can bring especially since you won't be gaining any TP with /THF sub.

this is why i think, Chi Blast will be the best option.

EDIT: sorry this only a response to the 'Topic' however i'm not sure if boosting increases an SATA Dragon Kick.
