As far as the gigas line of bracelets, I've been testing the lvl 50 ones (Enkelados Bracelets) vs. the kote, and the kote has been putting out higher, more consistent numbers. I'm not sure if this will change at 60, with Pallas Bracelets, but my input on the hands. And as far as scorp harness goes: if you can afford it, go ahead, but personally, I wouldn't pay 5mil+ for +5 acc and the loss of chakra enhancement.

okay tonight was MUCH better..

Of course I partied with a BRD so that might have something to do with it.

So party setup was

MNK/WAR
WAR/NIN
THF/NIN
BRD/WHM
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM

we went to QS. The WAR/NIN was tanking until I did a ~600 dmg RF and we were low on mp so I flipped on counterstance thinking that it might be okay since the + counter on cc and maybe I would survive.

Well... the + counter did alot.. I countered just about every hit the ones that did hit me weren't for that much more either you would think going from 170 -> 28 defense would mean alot more dmg but it wasn't extreme. I took like 150-250 crits, so after that they told me to tank. And since Counterstance is 5 min and lasts 5 mins I can have it up all the time.

Im not saying MNK should be tanks but in this situation it really worked out we got chain 6's.. double attack + kick + countering+haste almost everytime meant that things died very fast.

Do you think I should get 2 avenger's earings? (for when I get hate or am asked to tank agian... they are 100k each so.)

I have 2.8 mil right now peacock charm is 5 million, scorpion harness is 4 million, so do you think I should waste 200k on these?

I honestly wouldnt bother with avenger earrings for exping, use the +attack earrings.

+counter ones might be useful for like farming or something but I wouldnt bother with it for exp.

/edit: I didnt think counterstance lasted for 5 mins, thought it was on a similar active length to berserk.

Yeh sharma actually it lasts like 4 min : 50 seconds. So there is 10 seconds when it is off. But other then that if you had alot of counter gear it could be pretty bad.

I think when I fight maat at least im going to be going with avengers, crosscounters, and any other counter gear I can get my hand ons because it is just amazing how well it works.

And because our defense well... sucks anyways the difference between 150 and 20 isn't THAT bad. As long as I have crosscounters im planning on keeping it up all the time, I was trick buddy in that party before I tanked and before I started using counterstance I took way more damage then after.

BTW these where IT high defense giving us 200-280 per kill.

But I agree I would definatley like to have peacock charm before I get those. They are nice, but our tank was a war/nin using gsword for half the time and 1 sword one axe the rest so I just got alot of hate. Usually with a pally or nin tank I wouldn't get so much I dont think.


So no tanks were on today so I did go ahead and buy avenger's earing and I have been tanking QS ever since. Antican's seem to be countered alot. anyone know what other things affect counter like accuracy or dex or why some mobs seem to be countered more.

Counterstance is very underrated.
