Coming back to monk.. maybe

Hello, I have been thinking of switching back to my monk from my RNG (currenty lvl 66).

My monk is lvl 50 or like 500 xp till 50.

My question is this. I am selling my ebow to pay for my monk gear so gil is not an option.

Are crosscounters still the best h2h weapon.

I was thinking about picking up

Scorpion Harness (maybe get a crafter so they can maybe get a +1)

2 highest STR rings I can go

Brown Belt

Peacock Charm

Umm.. I want to say ochinodo's gloves but im confusing it with the crossbow so that thing

2 attack earings

fuma kyahan (then kung fu shoes)



Are these still like the best gear for mnk?

Oh and for leggings what is good. Lol I wouldn't mind hanging onto my bastokian subligar (+5 attack) just because it is sitting in my mog and is free.

Yeah that stuff is still good, great even! If you manage to get all that you'll be menacing

Well I have about 2 million gil on me (RNG at my lvl is super expensive 2 mil = like 2 levels lol). And I bought my ebow for 4 mil its not going for 5.5 mil. So I can afford it.

Might swap out Peacock for spectacles once I get to that lvl or just go back to spike once I have my scorp harness (should be enough acc I think). So that will get me enough to afford scorpion harness.


You know I love RNG but its boring.. and watching mnks that I partied with I thought how cool it would be to get all this stuff. I mean as a RNG I have all the best gear my lvl (except I dont use guns cause that is crazy lol). And its good and all.. but MNKs hit so fast and sometimes even outdamage me (if they connect 3 times on a double attack or kick). So if you had enough acc on a MNK I think it would be alot better then a RNG with the best gear.

I do want to keep my RNG for things like HNM's and other stuff were it works better then MNK and im gonna max it to 75 (probably get alot of gil from mnk and im just gonna sell the mnk gear so im not really losing much.

Plus the only time that RNG is really bad is fighting bones.. so I can just use my MNK to do that. And watching Amarie a high lvl mnk on our server use asuran fists on ZM 8... made me fall in with the job agian.

One question why is it that I have never once seen a MNK with scorpion harness even the lvl 75 ones are all wearing raketsu (explain that to me too cause I thought that AF was even better then that).

I thought scorp was the best body equipment for MNK.

The best Monks on my server all wear Scorpion Harness (and Peacock charm, Optical Hat, etc...)

What do I want in a party what do I skillchain well with. (at 50).

From 49-52 I think I was in the Citadel. Then from 52-55 went over to Kuftal Tunnel. Yay Crabs! :_:

Skillchain, I normally get to solo Raging Fists while the DRK and PLD do Distortion. In the Citadel, you could do Red Lotus Blade >> Raging Fists if you have a PLD tank or Tachi: Kagero >> Raging Fists if there is a Samurai in the party. Both are Fusion.

The sweet thing about monk is that you can pretty much stick to your AF and still be pretty godly as long as you have the rest of your eq up to date you'll be more than fine.

I hit level 75 and I sold my sniper rings off and am using mostly AF with spartan cesti/str rings/brown belt/spike necklace/kote-AF gloves (switching depending on monsters.)

The thing about scorpion harness is, it's ok if you can afford it but, you're going to basically be paying 4 million or whatever for +5 more accuracy which I think is just too much, because the evasion doesn't really help us, and you will be switching back to AF body for Chakra, so I never bothered to aim for it. I still use AF body over Rasetsu or the harness.

With that extra 4 million you could pretty much get everything you need and more. If you want you can aim for spartans/sniper rings/str rings/brown belt/lifebelt/spectacles/kote and practically get tham all with that money you would spend for the harness.

ummmmm....no.

Scorpion Harness is Acc+10 Eva +10 so yes, get facts straight and the +1 version is twelve on both of those stats.

I strongly suggest you re-read the post Glynt made and the obvious to anyone with an inkling of reading comprehension statement he made about the Scorpion Harness.

Then I strongly suggest you edit or delete your post before someone forcibly puts your own foot in your mouth.

Uhhh guys who cares.

I didn't ask if it was worth the gil I asked if it was the best. Paying that much gil for anything is kinda... well not needed. E-bow isn't worth 5 million for its stats but did it make a difference to me yes in both party invites and dmg.

As a melee dmg (MNK way more so then RNG) ya gotta stand out if you want to get parties. Which is why I get good gear.. but thats just the way I play im not knocking anyone else and I don't really care if it is "rational" to spend that much.

Okay back on topic do I need Ochinodo's Kote?

Because alot of people say MNK AF is better and right now I have ochiodo's kote and my Hume F rse gloves which are +3 STR and +3 DEX. Would these be better or no?

The reason I ask is I had my first party as a MNK last night I was lvl 49 and I was really dissapointed I wasn't doing the DMG I wanted.

I was anywhere from 9-60 a hit fighting beetles, and I missed way more then I wanted to (didn't have peacock charm or crosscounters yet still waiting for bow to sell). Any advice on what I should change.

Gear:

2 puissance rings
1 life belt (till I get peacock then this will change to brown)
nomad's mantle
fuma kyahan
Ochiodo's Kote
Emperor’s Hairpin (I wonder if federation headgear would be better for +STR and +DEX but its only like +1 and it looks really ugly like a horse harness)
2 Beetle +1 earings
Spike Necklace (Peacock is like 5 mil on my server right now im debating buying it it depends on how much my bow sells for but I am going to need more gil still)
Republican Subligar (Could switch to the sweatpants but they are like only +1 dex.. so would that really make a difference in me hitting)
Crosscounters (had patas +1 last night though hopefully the added dmg/faster delay/ +3 acc will help a bunch *crosses her fingers*)

So.. what do you think? (agian lvl 50 right now)

there are some nice +str braclets that have a nasty -dex -agi on them, at 30 it's not so bad, only -2 dex/agi, 40 it's -3 dex/agi, and 50 has -4 dex/agi (emp hairpin will make up for these losses along with a spike necklace) the level 40 ones are ogygo's braclets, i forget the level 50 ones, but they are pretty much the highest +str you can get for your hands, i'm currently using the level 40 pair, and my damage is pretty high per hand, i'm keeping up with drks and wars my level with faster tp gain (well, war/nin gets double attacks a bit more often, so they get tp a bit faster than i do, but when i hit 50 the playing field in that matter will even out, then 51 i get a kick, so have even more chance for tp gains.)

Im not a mithra so I dont think I want - DEX really.

In fact im kinda worried with how much I was missing last night as lvl 49 in garliage. I wasn't missing more then anyone else but I like to connect alot especially as MNK.

In fact I was even thinking of switching out my ochiodo's kote for hume RSE because of the +3 STR and DEX.. think that would help me hit better? Would it be worth losing the +20 attack?

Go with a sniper or 2 if you have to get something for +acc, I noticed your setup is pretty accuracy minimal at the moment. They've been trending up slightly on most servers, so I doubt you'll lose money even if don't like/sell them.

Those beetles are decently hard to hit at that level as well, so you will fan a lot if you don't have any +acc gear.
