How effective would a party with Two monks be? My LS is making a static but already have a monk, they still need a DD so i thought why not two monks? so far they have whm, brd, thf and maybe a blm. would the lack of Skill Chains hurt?

The lack of a tank would hurt more ><

sorry, it's the blm and thf are iffy. so it would be tank, mnk, mnk, brd, whm thf or blm. i think the blm would be better than another monk. answered my own question><

there won't be a lack of skillchains. there will only be an absence of Induration skillchains, who's elemental equivalent the common mobs are usually weak against.

there is no reason why a PLD/WAR, MNK/WAR, MNK/WAR, WHM/BLM, BRD/WHM, BLM/WHM party won't work. and it would be even better if one or both of the MNKs has enough money to buy a second set of equipment for being a backup tank.
actually, the only problem with that pt setup is that the PLD might not be able to hold hate over the MNKs, but the MNKs can hold back a bit to counter that.

now, if you get a NIN/WAR as a tank, that's more dangerous, and it might be better to have the THF take the place of a BLM or MNK, just so that hate can be kept on the NIN better.

yes, what you lack is a tank coz monster later on hits very hard, BUT if you can afford those counter gears, defensive gears, and have yer block skill max out, you probably have a chance at tanking.

I still think something like a RNG, SAM, DRK, WAR, or THF would be better for that spot than another MNK. It really depends on how far the static is supposed to go (do they all expect to get to 75?). Wouldn't you want a little more variety than two MNKs? :p In my experience, DRKs tend to gain TP slow, especially when they cast a lot of spells. One of those may not be able to keep up with the MNK as easily as another job for the skillchains. I'm sure it wouldn't help your situation to say that the specific player him/herself probably matters more than what job they are. :dead:

As long as one of you doesn't mind doing shoulder tackle instead of combo or raging fists, you should be fine. 65+ you'll be all set with red lotus > raging/howling fists > dragon klick. Before that you're stuck doing either impaction (level 1 thunder renkei) or fusion (level 2 fire/light chain). If you guys can somehow fight skeletons 1-75, you would tear it up.

Your paladin shouldn't have hate problems. If he's regularly losing hate due to anything but a ws/500+ damage magic burst, he isn't a very good paladin. If my static paladin can do it without trick attack, yours should too.

Thanks for the input, we'll try it out. if it doesn't work i'll have them replace me.
As skillchains go, i just remembered we'll have raging fists > red lotus blade > raging fists, if i recall it's liquification -> fusion.

you'll have Spinning Tackle > Raging Fists for an Fusion which should do you ok, and of course Shoulder Tackle > Raging Fists, if you really can't use Fusion

A little latter you can do Howling Fists > Vorpal Blade for Distortion, and of course even later yet the ever patented Red Lotus Blade > Raging Fists > Dragon Kick, honestly 2 monk parties really start getting popular 66+, but i'm not saying they won't work before that

Actually was in a 2 Monk pickup party a few nights ago, while trying to play the catch-up-to-static game.

Party was around lv 48-49 in Garliage. Make was Pld, Mnk, Mnk, Rng, Rdm, Whm. Was astounded at just how effective this pt was. Had I not had to get up for work the next day, I wouldnt have left until I hit the cap (have since finished G1, so its not an issue now).

I had a perma from about 61-70 and we used mnk/war (tank),mnk/thf ( for uber light renkei), thf(/mnk with h2h 65+), whm, rdm, brd. And our exp rocked esp the time in gustav ( 59-62 @ 63 exp starts suckin ) on the right side and 65-69/70 on the left side. Only thing that woulda made it better is dropping the thf for another dps monk, war, even a pld really.
