  • Bone parties...when?

    Well, I've heard varying information. Some said 65 >_>
    some say 66. All the way up to "no time before 68".

    So...which is it? =\ I'm juuuuuust about sick of beating on
    crabs for 0dmg a punch cuz the damn RDM fell asleep.

    It goes Gustav Tunnel > Kuftal Tunnel > Ranp's Tomb correct?

    hmm... i beleive i did bones in gustav for 58-60 or so, somewhere in that range theres a good group, and the xp is very fast with the right pt setup,
    for the most pt theres generally bones you can xp on... like i beleive just over 60 the ones in toraima whatsit cannal are good

    but, the problem is many don't like to xp on bones, some are scared of them because they've never done it, a group that does not know how to handle them will get very frustrated...

    honestly, with a large amount of +str, and lot's of +acc, i tend to dish out more damage than most melee on mobs other than bones as well, so i'm not too worried about the whole bone pt thing...

    but just back to my point theres almost always bones you CAN xp on, the problem is finding a bold enuff pt to convince to do so

    i've also heard that you CAN go to gustav at 65 and stay for a relatively long time, but honestly the 1 group i've heard of trying didn't do to well at all, frustrated pld, mnk decides to explode on em, and now this pld who is in my ls will never even consider lvling on bones bad saying he's in my lvl range

      I did the 1st bones there from like 59-63 ended up getting like chain 8 , but that was before multihit TP nerf. Did second skeletons when I was 64 and the other monk in party was 65. Kept doing skele's there till around 69-70 ish I guess. Then to King's tomb.

        wow i think 64 is way too early. 65 is ok with a brd but its kinda rough. safe to go at 67 with out a brd.

            I think you can go there at level 65 if you have 2 monks and a bard for best setup. At 65 monks already get dragonkick so you can do the light chain.

            If you have a monk and dark knight I think its best to wait till 67 or so. You could go at 66, my perm went there with a dark at 65 and it was a little tough because he didn't even have spinslash yet, and even at 66 the dark built TP too slow, so we did pugs for TP and renkei'd the bones.

              with mnk/thf, mnk/war, pld/war, brd/whm, blm/whm, whm/blm you can go to gustav at 65. stay there until 70-71, then move to ranps tomb until 75. or you can go to tulia for better exp at 74-75.

                67 got my vote aswell. The skeletons you are facing has a level range of 74~76 for warrior type and 76~78 for black mage type. 64 is way too early since you cannot end a light skill chain. 65~66 is also too early without a bard since you will have a huge level gap between you and the mob. 67 is about the right level. You can exp there till 72. Just keep chaining, mages will have no trouble with mp and you will kill any mob instantly. The least you can get at 71 is 89, but if you can chain till chain5 without a sweat that can net you 4k per hour.

                  Well, guess I'll fill ya'll in on how it went, and pretend like you care.

                  Got a 3JP 3NA PT together. 66-67 (me 67, later whm and blm 67) the pt had a bard. I can say that even w/o the bard we'dve hit the things just fine. (The 2 66melee and I) He originally used 2x Madrigal, but then just switched to Min Mad. Which further confuses me since I've read numerous posts saying basically that I need to have 30+ACC gear with Shiva's Claws if I ever hope to connect against them bones.

                  Simply not true. WAR/NIN, DRK/THF, MNK/WAR (mistake, shoulda subbed THF), BRD/WHM, BLM/WHM, WHM/RDM (that JP loves his Dispel). We were doing Mistral Axe > Dragon Kick. With DRK SATA Spinning Slash hate back onto the tank, cuz you could bet your bottom dollar I was gonna tank after DK, and I did a few times.

                  So yea, it worked. Thanks for the replies. Lastly, I have a semi-set pt that's PLD/WAR, THF/NIN, MNK/XXX (me), RDM/BLM, RDM/BLM, BLM/WHM. Was wondering if anyone could reccomend any SC?

                  Getting rid of the THF is not an option. We are semi-set because the PLD and THF are "together". Also the PLD and THF know the 2 RDMs and BLM...so it isn't gonna change.

                  I was thinking either Red Lotus > Cyclone > Dragon Kick or
                  Red Lotus > Raging/Howling > Shark Bite. Kinda leaning towards the latter since asking a 67 THF to use Cyclone is kinda insulting...

                  Yea I know daggers get a cut in dmg vs bones, but I figured I can make up for that, and the magic burst on those things with a Taru BLM, and 2 RDM/BLM is gonna be something.

                  Any suggestions are appriciated. Thanks. :sweat:

                  EDIT: Anyone have any idea why the 66 WAR was routinely hitting the bones for 0 dmg with 2 Axes? >_> The dmg cut can't be that big...was Elvaan Female too... Oh well.

                    If you must have the thief, he has to go practice his h2h and do a sneaktrick combo, possibly with monk subbed ; ; if not monk subbed than warrior.

                    So the skill chain will probably look like:
                    Red Lotus> Sneak+Combo>Sneak Trick Dragon Kick.

                    The monk has to stand behind hte paladin and hope that the thief can pull hate off with a regular sneak combo and the warrior sub can also provide a buffer with a provoke that he can toss out if it doesn't turn.

                    Gustav isn't that hard I went there with a dark at level 65 and it was kinda junky but we were getting chain 4s with a retarded renkei. It was like red lotus>raging fist and then the dark knight would sneak trick sickle moon hate back onto the tank lol.

                    But ideally 66 with 2 monks and a bard or 67 with a dark and a monk is probably best exp.

                      Would you really want to fight bones with a thf in the PT? I'd think you'd be better off fighting something other than bones, and then can make a very nice light skillchain with red lotus -> raging fists -> Shark Bite.

                      Also, no need to use sneak + combo, thf can get raging fists (with mnk sub). I wouldn't really recommend trying to have the thf use HTH though...at 67 a thf has approximately the same HTH skill as a 56 monk, which means you'd be waiting an eternity for the thf to gain TP.

                      Also, where are the bones you'd fight at 66/67 in gustav? Last time I went there was at level 59, there were some VT (few IT) bones (doom warriors / mages, I think) nearby there, it was by some robber crabs and goblin mercenaries / alchemists / (whatever the bst one is called).

                        Just keep heading a little further back, good xp there from 67 to 70 or so. Make sure the RDM is 67 also, or they will not be able to silence the mage types which is a good idea since they like spamming level 3 ga spells.

                        Oh and watch out most of the camps have T gobu on one side T crabs that pop where you camp and T skellys that can aggro if you get too close.

                          Thanks for the advice. As you can see I'm 68 now. I basically pt with my semi-set in the tree. Then when they go to bed (kinda early) I seek and make (or get invited to) bones parties.

                          Yea, it's Doom Guards and Doom Warlocks, those occasional Terror Pugil to build TP. I've heard to stay here to 70 then either Kuftal Tunnel for a lvl or straight to King Ranps. Probably choose the former just to be safe.

                          With semi-set, pretty much just beat on crabs. When THF and PLD get 68 hit up Den Of Rancor. Soooooo damn tired of that Tree.
