  • Camping Fuma etc.

    Hi,
I've been lurking here for a long time. I was wondering if it was possible for me to camp the NM that drops the Fuma Kuahan(Quu Domi the Gallant)? I just spent all my gil on an Ochiudo's Kote, and dont have any left to buy the other pieces of gear I need. I'm a 40 monk( a few 2k from 41)/warrior and I would be dual boxing with my wifes white mage(same level). We prolly wouldn't attempt this until he ding 41 or so.

Also is there any chance we could take on Mee Deggi the Punisher. I'd like to recoup the gil I spent on the ochiudo's if possible by selling one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Mee Deggi the Punisher and Quu Domi the Gallant are both soloable by a level 41 monk, if you use your 2hr.
at level 41: you get Chi Blast, for a faster claim; you get Raging Fists, for a lot of extra damage; and the highest any mob in those rooms will check to you is DC, and will give you 72 xp (so as long as you can solo DCs at that level, you can solo the NM with your 2hr).

and if you have a whm around the same level with you (or twoboxing, whatever), you will definitely be able to beat them at your current level. you might not even need your 2hr.

would anyone be amazing enough to post what the names and corresponding drops of each of the NMs for each piece of desirable mnk gear is?

maybe even go so far as to say where they are? i think this would help alot of us out in the early 40's.

i'm kinda curious about that... i'd think a 41 mnk would have a hard time even with 2-hring... i think i waited till 50 before even trying to camp them lol, dunno tho

keep in mind Quu Domi the Gallant NIN 2-hr's, which is gonna hurt pretty bad if he's DC...
and Mee Deggi the Punisher 2-hr's as well with 100 fists..

hmm, Were both now about 1k from 43. from what I've read on allakhazam they are both lv 35-36. Being a NM I know they are going to be much tougher than the ordinary mob. but I hope we can handle 'em. I'll prolly use my focus and dodge abilities as well as snack on a mithkabob while I'm fighting. I more worried about the competition I'll get from other campers.

                :D

yeah, competition will be hard with all of the botters out there...

i camped Mee deggi at lvl 42, got 62 xp from the highest level placeholders there. i never checked to see how much xp Mee Deggi and Quu Domi gave me actually... but i think it was in the 20s... maybe less.

the two are about the level of the lowest level placeholder there, but since they are NMs, they have more health and better stats, making them about the level of the highest placeholder there.
they use their 2hrs in addition to that (Mee Deggi uses Hundred Fists, and Quu Domi uses the NIN 2hr [i always forget the name...]), but a MNKs 2hr compensates very well for both of them.

some things i've learned when camping them:
                -there are 2 placeholders.
-the placeholders spawn 12 minutes after their death.
-there are 8 spawn points for the placeholders.
-at any corner or edge of the platform, you can reach 5 of the spawn points with Provoke or Chi Blast. if there is a single botter there, and he doesn't stand on top of you, you still have a 3/8 chance to get the NM.
-at the adjacent corner to the left of the onramp, there is a chance that Cutters (crabs) will run up the wall a small bit, allowing your /targetnpc /ja Provoke <t> macro to target them and fire at them. this is possible in all positions, but more likely in that one corner.
-the NM spawns in place of the next placeholder, 75 minutes after it's last death, never any less.
-on rare occations, the NM will not spawn at the normal time, and will instead spawn randomly, in the place of a placeholder, 0-75 minutes later.
-Mee Deggi and Quu Domi don't normally spawn at the same time, and they are equal in all of the above. you can camp both of them easily.

i got extremely lucky on Mee Deggi, after 25-30 hours of camping, i killed him twice, and got the drop the second time. then i came back to get the drop again, no one was camping him, i killed him, and got the drop again on the first kill.
with Quu Domi, he literally spawned when i got onto the platform for the first time (i think i was lvl 41 for that time), and no one was camping him. i killed him and got the drop. i have killed him about 8 more times after that without him dropping.
                so i'm 2/3 for Mee Deggi ^_^
                and 1/9~ for Quu Domi

<edit> i wore one of the Kotes, and sold the other (550k) to buy Jujitsu Gi (100k) and Brown Belt (480k). i sold Fuma Kyahans (130k) after i realized that my RSE is better, and i used all of that money to level blm from 1-20 because i was bored.

having lost Mee Deggi to the same person 7 times in a row, for 2 different people, both used Provoke, when i am spamming my Chi Blast (faster than Provoke) macro at a rate greater than 10 times a second (yes, i do know this). i can safely say they are botters.

then there are some people that Provoke, and the mob litterally spawns purple and running toward the Provoker, those are botters.

then there are other people that follow you around so that their Provoke range is the same as yours, no matter how much you try to shake them, those are botters, those are the worst botters.

then there are the ones that have a tab bot that presses the Tab button faster than any human can do, and you can see it in how fast the head moves, and it looks for the name of the NM and uses provoke, those are botters.

                    sure, i'm making excuses... >_>

[edit][sarcasm] either that, or the nonexistent lag time between NA and JP, and also some NA and NA, makes it impossible for me to play the game the way SE intended. [/sarcasm][/edit]

Well, at least not as many ppl camp Quu Domi as much as Mee Deggi, so at least you'll get plenty more chances at them

in my experience, i get more claims with provoke than chi, so i've came to beleive provoke is faster than chi blast

and btw, many have accused me of botting, because of the mob spawning claimed and running at me scenario you just gave, and trust me i don't bot me and my brother play together, him on 56k, me on cable, and when i claim it normally spawns red to him

really? hmm... i should test that sometime...

is he able to target it before it appears?
someone in my LS sees a lot of mobs that spawn red and running, although i think he is overreacting.
i have cable too, as does he, and there were only two times that i saw an NM spawn red and running (both from the same person, one on Mee Deggi, and one on Quu Domi 30 minutes later). the instant my /targetnpc macro targeted the NM, he was red, the person was in the process of provoking, and the NM was running to the person before the provoke ball appeared, half a second after the NM appeared. with most bots (or likely bots, possibly just turbo controllers...), the instant my macro targets the NM, it is claimed (duh), and a second later the claimer starts using provoke, and the mob turns red and running a second and a half after it appears. that's a whole second's difference (possibly less, my adrennalin/concentration makes time appar longer for me), but a lot of people don't recognize that first second (like that person in my LS sometimes, i think), so it can be easy to mistake someone for that (but i don't make that mistake).

I finally got my pair of Fumas last night! I was up to 4AM thurday morning camping them with my wife. she had yesterday off and camped them some too. after killing Quu about 12+ times. he finally dropped them! I now have a brown belt to so I'm at 11% haste. when I'm farming I have my wifes char cast haste on me, does anyone know how much WHM haste is? again thanks everyone for your help and valuable input.

wow... i went back to camping Mee Deggi and Quu Domi for some money for crafting. since the update i've seen Mee Deggi spawn 1 hour after his death 3 times (i've NEVER seen or heard of that before with him). and just today he didn't spawn for more than 3 hours and 15 minutes, i just logged off after that and started typing this, i got tired of waiting. and i also noticed more late spawn times (1 hour late)

so... Mee Deggi's spawn time is a LOT more random than it used to be....
at least the placeholders are still 12 - 12.5 minute spawns.

and if anyone is interested, since the update i've killed him 5 times, seen him 8-10 times, and didn't get the Kotes.

[edit] oh, and i think the bot population has gone down a lot on my server there, i didn't notice any bots other than one person who Mee Deggi spawned purple and running towards. but that could just have been a small lag on my computer or something, i only saw that person once, so i don't know [/edit]
