I just hit 18 the other day and got my subjob, Redmage. Would I have to do the subjob quest again when I raise my redmage to 18 and want it as my main job with summoner as my sub? Thanks.

no, once you do the subjob quest once you don't ever need to do it again with that character.
just go into your mog house and you can change your job and subjob at will, no penalties.Check out this internet radio station!
