Best pants and boots for level 75?

For melee fighting, if you were free to choose any combination of pants and boots, which would be the best?

AF2 Melee Hose: Def31 HP+6% AGI+4 Kick Attacks+5 Subtle Blow+5
I'm not sure what Kick Attacks+5 means. Will it make me kick in almost every round of attacks? If I had these, I would definitely use the Dune Boots all the time.

Byakko's Haidate: Def42 DEX+15 Haste+5% Lightning+50
These look like the best pants to me right now, although I don't like to give up the Kick Attacks+5. Kicking less frequently, would Dune Boots still be the best, or is there a better choice, like Fuma Kyahan or AF boots?

Shura Haidate: Def30 HP-35 STR+5 Accuracy+7
These are pretty impressive as well.

Any of these items would be a huge upgrade from the Rasetsu Hakama's Attack+2 and Ice Spikes .

Kick Attacks +5 is probably similar to Counter + 5 on the cross-counters. And that effect goes off about 30-40% of the time. So with Dune Boots they could very well be quite a potent combination.

Kick Attacks+ only increases the dmg not the % of it occuring...so that sort of makes it not as great. I would go for the god pants and shura boots (or god boots for hnm).

Are you sure about that Ross because I don't know myself. It wouldn't seem logical considering that there's boots that already increase kick damage. I mean add +5 damage to kick? That's almost insulting. But like I said I don't know.

I have talked to monks that actually have the dune boots and other kick attack+ items and it does increase dmg not occurance %, but the dmg+ is pretty significant.

Edit: Also, another possibility for the legs slot are the shura set pants.

I think you're referring to the items with hidden effect: kick damage (kung fu shoes,dune boots). Those aren't really kick attacks plus+ so I don't think that I would necessarily compare those items with the melee hose.

If I seem to come across as somewhat beligerrent then I apologize I just want to be exactly sure what kick attacks plus means. Seeing as how most of the relic items are crap anyway you're probably right.

Yeah, I had assumed that the Dune Boots hidden effect was Kick Damage, while Kick Attacks meant something else. If anyone has or knows someone with the Melee Hose can you please confirm this.

I asked a Japanese monk on my server who has the Melee Hose, and he said they make you kick more frequently, while the Dune Boots make you kick more powerfully. I asked whether the Byakko pants are better and he said hmm, well haste is good too, it depends what you like Decisions, decisions

5% Haste is good, but kicking more often does seem more appealing to me.

If I had a choice personally I would use Shura pants - I'm a big sucker for +STR after I found out how much it affects H2H damage, and +7 Accuracy = (|Yes, please!|)

Guess it just goes to show that the hardest item to get being the Melee Hose (since you need a good amount of luck) is the best.

Wouldn't it be better to use the Byakko pants, with +15DEX you can get those -6DEX +11STR gloves (assuming you have infinite gil) if you want maximum STR.

I guess I will just have to see which pants I can get and go with those.

this is the way i see it


at high levels, (75 apparantly) you will primarily be fighting HNM

when fighting an HNM, if at all, i would want to give it the least TP possible, so even though all the pants are nice, i think the +Subtle blow and +kick frequency paired with the 60++ hp bonus, and dex. i think the af2 pants are the best

I can verify that the Dune Boots make kick attacks more powerful. My Dune Boots make my kick attacks as powerful, and sometimes more powerful than regular punches. The boots have no effect on how often kick attacks occur though
