  • Kung Fu Shoes: Fact or Fiction?

There are level 51 shoes out there named Kung Fu Shoes, which presumably grant a hidden effect of +25 to Kick, or so I've been told.

Seeing that the price for these beauties is a cool half-million on Ragnarok, I'd assume the hidden effect is truly there, or else alot of people are suckers.

What I want to know is:

Do Kung Fu Shoes make a noticeable impact on the occurance of kicks? Kick doesn't seem to have a skill-number associated to it, so what exactly does +25 to Kick extrapolate to? 25% more chance to kick?

And of course, do Kung Fu Shoes replace Fuma Kyahan, or is haste still the way to go?

I'm currently trying these guy out.

I haven't seen an increase in kick rate... but my kicks often hit harder than my fists (and I'm wearing spartan cesti).

If you are wearing the Fuma's, you know that you are getting a 3% increase to damage over time.

If you are wearing kung fu shoes, then the difference is really hard to judge I guess. I'm getting anywhere from +25 damage to +80 damage a kick with them. So... I guess the determinate would be how many times you kick in a fight and how many land.

I critical kicked a worthless mob for 160 damage and it made me sing the old Kung Fu song. Kind of fun gear. No idea if it's worth it or not.

Ohhh, so that's what's so special about those. I wondered why a generic level 51 boot with 8 Defense was selling for half a mil...

Kung Fu boots are nice but try to get the Dune Boots if you can.

Dune boots aren't exactly easy to get really. Especially when the cactuar starts spamming 1000 needles every 10 seconds.

Definately do not underestimate Sabateur Bailaraina. Hes a friggin badass. Make sure you get a paladin tank if you try, not a ninja.

Dune Boots are seriously worth it though, you will consistantly do more damage with kick than you do with a punch. For an extreme example: With Cross-Counters on Spartori at 75 you'll see about 80-120 damage per hand and kicks will do 120-160 with 210+ damage criticals. (102 STR, 690 attack | Meat, Berserk, Valor Minuet IV, Herculean Etude)

              Bards :spin:

If you have the chance to get Kung Fu or Wulong pre-70 I would highly recommend it

The boots don't increase kick rate, just kick damage. I don't have any experience with these boots, but I would imagine that the extra kick damage with be > the haste +3%. If you really want to know, do a poor man's parse on how often you kick. If you kick more than once every 33 attacks, then it's about the same if not better to use the boots.

Also keep in mind that the Kung fu ones are the "weak" ones. Wulong are a step up from them, and Dune Boots are even better than either.

Why? You say good things about the Dune Boots but absolutely nothing about the Kung Fu or Wulong Shoes. Explain please.

I never used Kung-Fu Shoes, WuLong Shoes, or WuLong Shoes +1 so I can only speak from my experience with Dune Boots.

I tried to find the post on vnboards with the exact numbers but i couldnt find it.

                    I think it was:

+30 Kick attack ~ Dune Boots
                    +30 Kick attack ~ Wulong Shoes +1
+27 Kick attack ~ Wulong Shoes
                    +25 Kick attack ~ Kung-Fu Shoes

Imode posted those numbers on VNBoards taken from a japanese site iirc.

Yeah, found it, heres the link:

Anyway, that info and my first-hand experience with Dune Boots (+30 Kick Attack) = me being a big fan of these hidden stack kicking footwear.

Any idea how much the Melee Hose's Kick Attacks+5 increases the chance to kick? I imagine Melee Hose + Dune Boots would be pretty powerful...
