Why is Ochiudo's Kote always out of my reach?

About 3 months ago I made a commitment that I would buy myself an Ochiudo's Kote. After that, I spent 2 months farming, only amassing 280k. Then my friend told me of the Utsusemi Ichi quest. I did the quest and went to Jeuno to check the price history:

So, I figure it would be a safe sell at 150,000 gil. That would net me at around 430,000 gil in the end. Let's check Ochiudo's Kote:

So I figure at 430,000 gil I would be able to finally buy it! Sweet!

...not so. I waited 5 days for the Utsusemi Ichi to sell and it didn't. Actually, no transactions were made in the last 3 days. Then finally, it only takes 1 jerk to ruin the economy. He sells the Utsusemi Ichi for 140,000. Next 2 bids, 140k as well. So I'm forced to goto 140,000 as my price. Then it drops again... 135,000, 130,000, 125,000, 120,000... In the end, I was forced to sell mine for 120,000 gil, which only brought me to 400,000.

But only 30k more gil to farm for Kote right? Wrong. Here's a look at Kote price since then:

0.o! That was so depressing I stopped playing for a while. I came back about a week ago, determined to farm my ass off. Yesterday, I checked in the morning and the price for every entry I could see was 450,000 and there was 1 Kote in stock. So I farmed my ass off the entire day for that extra 50k, and while I was waiting for all the silk to sell, I checked the Kote prices again. Of course, it takes only one jerk to ruin the economy...

This is so depressing. Should I farm some more, give up on Kote, or wait until the price drops?

You could just camp it and save the money you know. That's what I did. It took me 3 days straight of solo camping, which might sound like alot, but since you've spent weeks trying to save for them, I'm sure to can see the more productive method.

After reading a bunch of past posts, I'm starting to wonder just how effective Kote is vs. say the bracelets/sniper rings. A lot of people prefer the bracelets...

Then just level a bit till you're high enough. I didn't get mine till I was 42. I seriously don't see why some people would rather buy then get them themselves..

I say farm till 500k and if you check the price history and it says 510k, 510k, 510k, 520k, 550k....give up!

what drops the kote , where ,and what lvl do i need to be to solo

Lvl 39 is perfect! My SAM friend Zubaki camped it at 39 and got it no prob. Nothing seemed to aggro her, which was good...

Just get some others to help ya out. I'm certain there are other MNK's/SAM's out there who want the same thing. Hell, do that and keep the 450,000 for something nice, like a Jujitsu Gi.

Oh, yeah, you can also take out Quu Domi for Fuma Kyahans, which is cool since they spawn around the same spot...

And, to the previous poster, Mee Deggi the Punisher carries the Kote, and is located in Castle Oztroja. the mysterytour site said that you could probably solo him at lvl 41, but I'd probably wait till 45 just to be on the safe side... And, note, MANY ppl will try to camp for them!

You're not gonna believe what just happened... Kinda like what you said, except skipping 510k, 510k, 520k... yep, went from 500k to 550k. This is ****** ridiculous!

Your luck is horrible. Not sure what you can do, i'm sure you want them ASAP. So i'd say do what needs to be done to obtain them. They say to camp it, but how long will that probably take you?

I'll tell you this, it's faster to camp the enemy than it is to farm for them.

Yeah, but if you want them right when they become available at level 34. Camping the NM is not really an option.

On my server the Kote was up to 700k for awhile...

....why dont you camp other NMs and sell the drops? It would have saved you months of farming.

I don't remember them ever getting that high in seraph. oh well. I would say if you really want them either camp the NM or camp other NMs like Leaping Lizzy to get enough money to buy them. You can take the Valkurm Emperor at lvl 39 also.

Oh yeah, good thing im not on ya'lls servers. They only 350k on Phoenix =P
