Re: A Monk looking for Accuracy Food

It's been SOooooooooooo long since i've posted in this particular thread but i've discovered something in my time that I would really like to share with everyone, so that they may better themselves. And maybe use this info to stop gilsellers <,<

Attack is just a cup, and strength is the water to fill that cup.
If you crank out attack, your blows will be so widespread you wont do consistent and nominal damage, however if you have too much strength... actually I haven't found too much strength to be a problem yet.
I'm a 60sam/war by the way and I haven't changed my profile yet so... (too lazy)
Anyways there are two main foods, (Aside from tosonama rice balls) which all damage dealers of vana'diel should be aware of.
      Meat mithkabobs, and sole sushi.
If you have high attack (Check job and race) and have attack add-on items, It would be extremely wise to use sole sushi. This isn't affordable at times, but it's an extreme benefit to the damage you do.
If you have that overdose of strength, and you feel like your accuracy is still very good as well, try a mithkabob, you might do even more damage and still cinsistently.
Also a 3 hr bison steak is an amazing source for str and dex+ try it out sometime lol you'll be amazed.

      please, use this information wisely.

~and before I take full credit for this post, the idea is nowhere near mine. I had to learn it too.
Lavitz told me about all of this, so the credit goes to him.

Re: A Monk looking for Accuracy Food

As a WAR, I ate Meat Mithkabobs all the way from 10 to 45 (along with a very STR-heavy build, including Ogygos's Bracelets) and outparsed most other melees, ESPECIALLY the ones that submitted themselves to the redundancy of double snipers with Sushi. At 45 all ITs will be at least 51, and at 51 skills start going up by 4-5 at a time (as opposed to 3,) so you may notice a decline in accuracy (my WAR stopped at 45, so I can't tell you.) Good thing Lifebelt is available at 48. Basically, if you're not at 45 yet I'm pretty sure you can stick to the kabobs.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Shield Break, the level 10 Great Axe WS, gives the mob Evasion -40. Ask your WAR to use it, it'll make everyone's Acc go up.

I don't like nitpicking or being rude, but this isn't a very good representation. Damage dealt basically boils down to [DMG + fSTR] x [(Atk/Def) + Random]. The random number has a set range that varies with how high/low your Attack/Defense ratio is, and is distributed evenly. For the sake of equipment/food comparisons though, there's not much we can do about it, so we can just ommit it. That means damage, as far as we're concerned, is [DMG + fSTR] x [Attack/Defense]. Every couple of points in STR add 1 to your DMG (and thus, if your Attack is close to the mob's Defense, about 1 more damage per hit; if your Attack is capped at twice the mob's defense, around 2 more damage per hit.) Attack, on the other hand, increases the multiplier and your range of damage. In the end they both do the same thing, just in different quantities. Considering that the mob's Defense is in the hundreds, it takes a handful of STR to make a significant change in the ratio, while a few points in STR will almost guarantee a 1 damage increase.

As far as Sushi go, for stats, Sole is the best in my opinion. The price tag is pretty high, though...

Agreed. You get Acc and Str so why not?
