  • New items validate alternative subs?

    From what I've read of the new "latent effect" items, the correct sub is needed to activate the item's bonus. So, could these items make previously "mediocre" subs into decent ones? In EXP or Balllista...


    Examples:

    Mnk/Drg
    Wyvern Earring = Haste +5% = /DRG

    Mnk/Sam (pre-60)
    Katana Obi = "Store TP"+1

    Early thoughts?

      correct me if i'm wrong but latent effects only activate when your hp is yellow-red?

        The lvl 50 items, yes. These lvl 30 earrings - no.

        Sucks though, with /whm I get a measly -1 enmity. Pfft.

              A definite "No" to the SAM sub pre-60. Store TP+1 just isn't going to cut it when compared to the awesome MNK only belts. 60+ I don't know, depends how much extra TP +1 gives you, but I'm still doubtful that it will be much if at all quicker than double attack.

              I would say maybe to the DRG sub assuming that two earrings is %10 haste, just because there aren't that many great earrings for MNK, and you get passive ACC and ATT up along with jump, but I'm thinking that that goes out the window once you hit 50 and get Double.

              I'd say it makes them at least somewhat viable though not nearly the most effective. So, I'm actually going to disagree with what the others are saying in that they'll go from mediocre to decent, well at least for DRG 1-50, and SAM 60+. Otherwise they are relatively not so good.

                i think those earrings are rare, so 10% haste is impossible so BUT, it's a earring so let's see

                brownbelt +8%
                panzer mask +2%
                fuma kyahan +3%
                wyvern earring +5%

                bout 18% haste, not bad.. since all the earrings applies to all jobs i dont mind going into latent to use em, since monks have hella hp anywayz (thou it's not wise when fighting in undead areas), subbing drg is erm.. not that good imo, lacks alot of passive ablities compare to wars

                          To clear up the items I'm speaking of, the new lvl30 earrings and belts. "All Main jobs" can equip it, but you won't see the latent effect unless you use the correct subjob.

                          In terms of Ballista 30, I think the subs I mentioned are not bad on paper.

                          Mnk/Drg with Tropical Punch, Wyvern Earring, and Purple Belt could serve the role of caster interrupter ("spell breaker"). Built for fast attack and accuracy.

                          Mnk/Sam might be a better soloist than Mnk/War. Even with just "Store Tp +1", getting to your WS 1st can be a match winner. Heart Eye is not a gamble like sustained Berserk in a duel.

                          I don't have either Sub, so it's just theory =/

                            Wait a minute. I was looking over in the AH, and nowhere in the discription for "Wyvern Earings" do I see "/DRG" as a requirement... how did you get this information?

                            Don't tell me its just because of the name of the earings...
