  • Monks vs Skeles

ok, i've heard that Monks are beastly damgade dealers at later lvls because you fight lots of bones for exp. What does this have to do with monks? Do H2H weapons do more dmg to bones or ignore their higher defense?

    MNKs VS Skeletons

From what I understand Skeletons have high defense vs. Piercing weapons and Slashing weapons, on the other hand weak vs. Blunt objects.

At those lvls you might even see PLDs using Clubs...but not very common.

Given that information, its obvious why MNKs do well against them, since they are the only damage dealers who efficiently uses blunt weapons(( comparing with DRG with staves...hehehe...(;-.-) ))

Skeletons have lower defence than some other enemy types, but have damage resistances to most weapon types.

Hand to hand, 1H club, and 2H Staff ignore these resistances I think.

Ahh, okies, thanks for the info. I guess they did that because Monks are technically holy and whms usually use clubs or staves so they wanted the holy classes to have some sort of melee 1-up.

it probably has more to do with the fact that if you use a knife on bone, you'll just chip it, but if you use a hammer, you'll shatter it. Thus the difference between blunt (h2h, club, staff) and others (sword, arrow, etc).

            Thanks Yyg!

hmm, that makes sense too. lol, a bit more realiztic, but it makes sense none the less. ^^ TOo bad there's no chance to do dbl. "shattering: damage. :D Monks would be the cream of the crop then, or even battle white ma*shot*

1hs has no penalty on bones, nor do any other bladed weapons.

                Only bullets, arrows, spears, knifes.

Shaolin Monks (closer to FF monks) are Buddists who practice over 70 style of kung fu. they only fight to protect their temple (a long time ago at least) and they feel they have a duty to stop evil (murders and what not...a long time ago ...when things werent in order back then.)

so yes monks are holy and thats what pretty much do...(pray...they're almost like preists) but they practice kung fu every day. they are also like the Tiwan(spelling?) Lama Monks

                        yes and no
i watched the old movie Shaolin Vs. Lama which got me interested so i downloaded a 3 hour documentary about the Shaolin Temple. it was made for chinese viewers but someone translated it (illegally most likely) but it told the history of the shaolin temple and even showed the fighting styles and practices. i think there are like 72 or 73 or something.

but anyway, i also read a lot of books on it (about 4 )

and i dont know much about Lama monks because i cant find anything on them for some reason...
