Exocets?

I saw this h2h weapon listed on a website. Here are the stats:

Rare/Ex
Lvl 42, +10 Damage +40 Delay, DEX +1, AGI +1, Water+5

They are dropped by a NM in the Sea Serpent Grotto called Qull The Shellbuster. I estimate his level to be around 56-58. I say this because I fought him at level 55, and even with Hundred Fists I still would have needed a Hi-Potion or two to win the battle. I was forced to Instant-Warp away. At the time I was using my level 15 THF sub (I was farming) so if I had my usual sub of WAR I suspect it would have gone a bit better, but I still doubt I would have won.

My question is...has anyone ever seen these? Obviously you can't just buy them at the AH (Ex), and the stats are not that great - but I still think at some point in the future I will try to get them again (having a Rare/Ex weapon to show off when fooling around is fun).

They would actually be the best h2h available at level 42. Not that it helps now that I am 55 going on 56 in less than 2k exp....

These are actually a better damage/delay ratio than Tact. Magicians Hooks. Well, on paper and not counting the +10 atk on the hooks.

Wow, those really do look nice. I'll have to try and get someone to come along with me next time to heal. He really wasn't doing much damage to me (12 a hit), but as Russta pointed out in his journal, he has a TON of HP.

Looks like I'll be back camping him today....

Don't forget to add in your base HTH damage/delay values when you compare weapons. Tactician Magician's Hooks are far superior to a 10/51 weapon.

At level 50:

153/9.1 * .9 + 3 = 18 damage, and as we know, 340 delay for your bare hands.

So, 37 damage, 431 delay (and +10 atk) vs. 28 damage, 391 delay. To compare your fists to a two-handed weapon, you can just double the damage value (since our fists hit two times per round). To compare to a one-handed weapon, halve the delay value and pretend you're dualwielding weapons of that damage/delay value (discounting that dualwield lowers delay).

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not going to use the Exocets as a fighting weapon in EXP parties. I just want them because they look good and its something I haven't seen any MNK walking around with.

I'm glad this got bumped becuase I am sorely confused about Qull The Shellbusters spawning habits. On just about every website I have visted he is listed as a 1 to 3 hour NM with a lottery pop with the nearby Sahgin. I'm going to assume most of this is dead wrong. I have camped him 3 times now, and here is how it went:

1) He appeared in less than an hour, I was killing the surrounding Sahgin

2) He appeared in a little over an hour, I wasn't killing the surrounding Sahgin

3) He took SIX hours to spawn, and I was killing the Sahgin

So...I don't get it. I camp a lot of NM and this is by far the most inconsistent one I have seen. (Not to mention the fact that after 3 kills I still have no Exocets, just 3 Clumps Of Pamtam Kelp :mad: ).

Anyone know anything more about his habits? He is actually suprisingly easy to kill, he just has a lot of HP.

well this sounded like a good time killer and i was bored today so tried it.

first, its past the silver door at J10 where he spawns. i noticed theres 3 saughin that spawn in the side deadend passage there so was killing those for a while. i killed a bunch more on the sides too and he eventually spawned in what i feel was the 3rd/brook saughin dead end passage slot.
the spawns are approximately 14 minutes.

all the ph can drop keys so if you have some time you can snag a chest (or 6) since there are a bunch of chest spawns near this area.

he hasnt spawned in over 2 hours now and im still clearing stuff. its pretty good gil with thf sub and the chest loot is ok too.

0/1 on him, kelp.

edit: oh yea forgot to mention he spawned at the T right at the intersection, 2 of the 3 side path spawns can spawn there too so thats why i think it was the brook one.

also, dont forget to use steal if thf sub, they have mythril coins

edit2: well 5.5 hours later he spawned again. i had just finished clearing the 7 or so saughin in the area and was resting at 600 hps and i looked up and he was there. ran to him and chi blasted since there was a high level ninja around the area doing chests for a long time. 2 people ran around the corner right after i claimed it so got lucky i wasnt afk during the downtime phase. really i cant say if he spawned from a placeholder or not now. i dont think he did. he spawned in the same spot as las time right at the intersection of the T. he luckily had the exocets which look kinda cool.

btw, they are +10/+51, +1 dex/agi, 9 water resist. just to correct the stats above.

Yeah I noticed he always pops in that same place you mentioned near the T interestion, but not quite in the water.

So you had a long spawn on him too? Hmmm.....I guess that throws any chances of figuring out what his spawn timer is.

btw on a hunch i think Brook Saughin can drop Mermaid Earring or ring, i forget, rarely. Its +2 Enmity. the ninja i mentioned was only killing Brooks and had one sold in AH for 500k ^^ Please keep an eye out for that. Would be a nice farm since no one was really there the whole time and no spoiler sites list the dropper for it.

also, if anyone knows any other good camps or gil farms in Grotto please let me know. I like this zone and got the map now and its usually empty on my server hehe. Thanks.
