Brown Belt Quest: WTF?

Ok, I beat out two JPs in argoing the Morbolger and beat his ass into the ground with 200+ HP to spare
and I ASSUMED that this would be the hardest part of the quest.

Turns out the Deadly Dodo's item isn't 100% drop and the Nue takes a long ass time to pop (I wasted about 2 hours of a good friend's time thinking it would just take a few tundra tiger kills.)

Now, I can complain, but I'd rather collect bits of information.

IF you know,
what is the drop rate of Dodo Skin
and what is the pop rate of the Nue
(and is the nue fang 100%, please god, say it is...)?

I've fought dodo around 10 times with no drop still....

Nue is 1-3 hour pop i think, not 100% drop rate.

Deadly dodo: HNM in Saumo...whatever Champagne... day-pop

That's the hardest part, malboro NMs are everywhere in Ordelle, the tiger NM is random-pop in Xacarbard or 1 of those snowy place....

And yea, its totally annoying, I'm just gonna save up 300k or so and buy it from AH, then when I get mine, I will just sell it

They make the monk belt quests way to annoying.. the time you spend camping these _3_ NMs you could easily get Valkurm Emporer a few times and buy 2 brown belts.. i mean for godness sake i spent like 2 days straight getting the brown belt and its worth 2-3 hours of relaxed farming lol

Edit: I'm just sticking with life belt to LV75.. its a good belt and i dont have to spend weeks getting it cause i already got it ^^

Deadly Dodo is not a HNM....he's a 1-3 hour pop...I have fought him many times in the same day. Also usually fight him solo, he's not hard at all post 50.

Prolly thought I meant the Roc.

The Purple Belt quest wasn't THAT hard,
when I hit lvl 40, I finished it in about 4 hours (and got some cash in the process.)
The Morbolger was the only hard NM to find
(if I hadn't been told when the last kill was, I never would have found it),
the other two just suck because of the non-100% drop rates.

Well I havent camped Deadly dodo yet or Nue. I got the Morbolger vine, funny thing is tho. I was helping one of my DRK friends on his AF2 you know in the caves we ran into the room where Morbolger spawns and by hell there it was. I was like HOLY CRAP I ran up and attacked it the vine droped. I was like PLS!!! let me win the lot and I won it with a lot of 905 LOL! I will camp the others later on or something. Good luck to everyone else in getting the items tho.

Deadly Dodo is definatly not a 'day pop' NM. A RDM beat me to the kill the first time, and two hours later he popped again. I got him and got the skin to drop.

I would like a bit of clarification though - does Molborger spawn in the 'lungs' of the Ordelles caves or in that far south square room after the long hallway running N to S?

I 'think' its in the square room....

hi, ive been working on this quest and have the dodo and nue parts. been camping the nm in ordelle (spawns in the south square room btw). few questions, hoping someone can answer.

- is it a 12 or 24 hour spawn? ive heard both.

- are the stropers in the room placeholders or is it on its own spawn?

- can it spawn anywhere in the area or a few specific spots?

- any other helpful info?

I recently got the Molborger vine so I can be of some assitance here....

One thing that suprised me was the fact that Molborger spawning does not take the place of a Stroper - so killing Stropers won't help you any (unless you just want to pass the time).

He is a 21-24 hour spawn. The best way to kill him is sadly this way:

You will have to wait until the next time your server goes down for maitenace or what have you. Make sure you log off in the middle of Molborgers room beforehand. Now, you have to log back in as soon as humanly possible once the maitenance is over. I'm not sure if it is true for all NM, but I know it works for Molborger....he will be there after the maitenance. Now, don't worry if you miss him (a buddy in my LS told me he logged in just in time to see another MNK killing it ), because now you can take advantage of the 21-24 hour rule.

Just show up the next day 21 hours later, and camp for 3 hours. You will be guaranteed to at least see Molborger (if not fight and kill him yourself). If you miss him again, then come back 21 hours later and repeat.

Its a pain, but at least this way you only waste 2 or 3 hours a day camping as opposed to sitting there all day waiting for him to maybe show up.

actually, i just powered thru the camp. killed stroper near the room but 0/19 on the rings. chi blast pwned everyone for the snag hehe.

10 hours into the effort Marlbolger spawned right in front of me, i kinda froze since i had no job abilities ready and was totally surprised, but the thf who was also trying for it the whole 10 hours i was there was far away so had time to autoattack it. was a difficult but cool experience, glad it ended in a victory. the thf was very cool about it, least he knows when to come back tomorrow.

glad thats out of the way and ready for black belt when it goes in the game someday, hopefully it wont involve a 24 hour respawn NM...

Deadly Dodo isn't a 100% drop, but he's like a normal NM in terms of pop time - 1-3 hours like others have said. He spawns around the craters in northeast Sauromugue Champaign, basically where all the tabar beaks are. He can be hard to get sometimes because people will farm cockatrice meat, and they may not have done brown belt quest either. The skin sells to an NPC for like 1200 gil if you have already done the quest. Luckily I got it on my first try.

Nue isn't a 100% drop either. He pops 1-3 hours (usually 1 1/2-2 hours) in Beaucedine Glacier, around the tower just south of the zone to Xarcabard. You should kill the Tundra Tigers wandering around, and be careful about the gobs, they may still aggro you at 54, at 55 I'm pretty sure they don't (it's gob reapers/robbers/traders/poachers). It took me eight tries to get the nue fang to drop.

Morbolger is just a pain in the ass. He is a 24 hour pop. So hopefully you have an idea of when he is popping. Lately on Kujata it's around noon-2 pm EST. His drop is 100%. I didn't have much of a problem with him @ 52, didn't two hour either (equips = tct mag hooks, jujitsu gi, shinobi hakama, temple gaiters, beetle earrings + 1, spike necklace, etc.). I used Dodge and he didn't put much of a dent in me.

Did all of it this weekend, killed Nue twice for fang, killed dod twice for skin. Did the 2 rams ..... got to the last part ..Morbolger. Sat there for 22 hours ( yea seriously I was determined ). Starts getting around to the time it was supposed to pop...which I had no clue of cause I had no idea when the last time it was killed. About 90 mins before it pops 2 friends join me. One gets a D2 back to change to warrior sub . So the 45 nin returns and I invite him from the zone. Almost right after the NM pops right on top of my other friend a 56 blm and he stuns it. Talk about giddy I was like omg YES!!! We kick it's but, this whole time I was subbing lvl 1 ranger cause I came right from doing the rams, made him a little harder. Anyway, we kill him I lot, and the Nin is like bleh nothing and LOTS AND BEATS ME !!!!!!!! Gm wouldn't do anything about it. Just happened like 45 mins ago.... I couldn't be more upset. /VENT

That's kind of messed up to lot it when you're the monk. I mean I understand the desire to sell a belt that is $400-500k on our server but still...
