Monk Subs...Warrior or Thief?

My monk is currently lvl 22 with a war as a sub. But I've been wondering, if a thief may be a better choice as a sub later on. Most of the high lvl monks on my server have thief sub jobs.

I want to deal the most damage I can with my monk, and I've evaluated all the sides of having a war or a thief as a sub later on. With a warrior you got berserk, warcry, double atk, and physical atk up. But with thief you have sneak atk and trick atk, but are they really that good?

Ultimately, the question is, which will help me deal the most dmg with my Monk?

Yes, Sneak and Trick Attack are that good. They are awesome skills which can make Thief a formidable sub for any high level melee. Early on you can go with Warrior because of the strength increases, however, depending on the race you may want to go with Thief. For example, if you're a Mithra Monk the Thief sub will net you a substantle amount of dex and agility, while a Elf Monk could get a nice amount of Str from the Warrior. Both of these increases (from the Mithra or Elf side) add to an already great amount clearly giving that race a great advantage in that stat.

Well in my opinion i would go thief for the extra dexterity and agility boost correct me if i am wrong for an elvaan monks dexterity later on isn't as high as a humes or mithras so i just thought it would be a good sub.

I think a thief sub will do more damage. But you will be losing provoke. I know a monk shouldn't be tanking BUT without provoke a monk will have nothing in the way of crowd control.

A monk has alot of HPs and can do limited tanking if the situation needs be, like a mob beating down on a WHM. without provoke a monk will have no way on peeling off a mob.

If i see a mob beeting on a mage , I will provoke it away from him, and wait for the main tank to provoke it off of me. Since I have to hit points to tank for quite a a long time.


THis is why I think war is a better sub then thief, because you have much more control in battle.

IMHO, the lack of Provoke is the only real downside to subbing THF.

Thf sub is only for hate control....sneak and trick arent super powered like they are for thf main...plus theres the whole issue of yokodama being eliminated next month -.- Personally i'd go with war sub...thf sub isnt even viable until 60/30 anyway
