I'm new at this, in fact ive never played ff before so please bear with me. I want to start off mnk and possibly sub war later but I want to know what race would be best.

Well stat wise Galka make the best monks

2nd best is Elvaan.

Galka are 4 str weaker, but 4 dex higher, and alot higher HP and vit then Elv. As lvl 70 Monk/war

Problem is galka aren't to verstile. If you change your mind later, they dont' do very good at other jobs. Low MINd and MP they are horrible casters.

Galka aren't even that good at Paladin's caue their mind.

Dude, I had to laugh at that statement, because you obviously HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

PLD is arguably the Galkas' signature job. Galka Paladins are unmatched when it comes to tanking.

But what ticks me off the most is that you go around posting all these statements that Galkas "are not versatile" and the like...and yet you're not a Galka player...heck, judging from your sig, you haven't even played the game yet. Experience the game before you start being critical of any of the races.

Elvaan's look way too lanky as monks! They completely drop their guard when they're not attacking. Comeon you're a Monk for gosh sakes!

Galka, Hume, Mithra, Elvaan are all fine as mnk. Taru is the only weak one because their racial benefit of having high mp does pretty much nothing for a monk. On a side note Galka are not the ideal paladins because they have no mp. I'm sure not being ideal isn't a problem if you are a paladin tho.

Paladins have High defence, did you know that? Galka PLD/WAR is the Their Ideal job. The low MP is an issue, only if your a mage, but its not when you are a knight. The PLDs job is to take the hits. Galka PLD has the Highest defence and Highest HP(next to monk). So taking the lowest damage in your group+alot of HP=lower MP spent by the white mage to cure you=killing enemies alot faster=getting alot of XP.

Two things:

1.) Like Lum, you apparently don't know what a PLD's main purpose is. Paladins are TANKERS, NOT CASTERS, and seeing as how Galkas are arguably the best tankers in the game, it's the ideal job for them.

2.) Galkas DO have MP...albeit, it's rather low, but it's still there.

ah here it is. basically go galka if u can deal w/ the look they have high str good dex and u can back up tank decently, go elf if u wanna hit for a bit less but lack in dex, go for mithra if u don't mind being groped :D and wanna lack in str but have very nice dex. as for that random pld comment.. pld's are supposed to be tanks in general not just vs physical atks meaning mind (mind is magic def) is nearly if not as important as vit, so overall elfs make better plds then galkas. as always, race isnt that big of an issue, be what u like, your perfomance and equip is just as important, try to have fun

My Monk

I have an Elvaan Monk and I am happy with him. For some reason it never occured to me to make my (already decided) monk a Galka (hadn't decided on the race yet). That actually would be a pretty good combo. Anyway....I think having an Elvaan monk/ranger is a tight combo....

galka monks are great

i am a level 20 galka monk have sick hand to hand skills and am a complete tanker, im unstoppable, my sub is white mage and although my mp is low it is sufficient to sustain me and my party members with healing and other spells, then killer combat skills to boast, whoever said galkas were without sufficient abilities needs to play the game for more than a week before making judgements, noobs !!!

Galka Paladins are THE best tanks in groups that are able to control their hate well. A Galka Paladin with a thief is the ideal tank for any situation.

However, you won't always find a party that has these resources. In those cases, you'd be better suited with a hume, mithra, or taru paladin that can go all out with spells and gain tons of hate. These races don't tank as well as galka or elvaan, but they don't make bad paladins in the least.

Galka Paladin with a Thief backing him is still the ideal. Nothing will change that. That being said, even a Tarutaru Paladin can be an great tank if he knows what he's doing.
