  • new2game, monk Q's!

    Hey guys.....
Unfortunately there's a ton of time before i'll be able to get this game.. but I CAN'T WAIT!!!@#@! So yeah im going to be creating a monk hopefully, but i just want some imput into doing so... Im thinking he'll be a hume, male... Monk as main class then i have no idea what later on.. But yea, what can a monk do? I know they hit 2 times... get kick later on.. I know they can heal themselves, but what about others?? What weapons can they get? Claws i know... What kinda armour, what's it look like?? I love Martial Arts, 2 years Tae Kwon Do, 2 years Koei-Kan, 8 months of Wu style Tai-Chi... Which is partly why i want a monk!! hehe
I've read some other posts here and it's kinda upset me cause i want to be a monk who can heal and help the group and do great things!! Damage is important, but when i think of monk i wanna be able to treat wounds of others and cast some nice magic.. I saw there's a ninja/samurai subclass... Do they get to look like ninjas/samurai with armour or use katana's??!? hehe
I want some imput!! Based on what i hear, a Monk/white mage would be good idea yes? I want to really be able to deal out a good amount of damage and then be able to heal and help everyone!! So what's a good idea?

OoOooO!!! Also maybe dish out a little offensive magic too?? So maybe a monk/redmage?????

mosta this u can find round this forum but Ill post it anyway. The only main weapons youll use are knuckles or something to raise ur hand to hand power (hooks, katars, claws, bagh naghs, knucks...). You also have an option of using 1h Clubs or 2h Staffs, which there isnt much reason to do unless it for show, or u just wanna have fun and use hundred fists w/ 2 clubs .
Armor, well u pretty much will only be wearing cloth armor and because ur amor will be light anyways its best to focus on things that boost your attribute like str, atk, acc, dex, and vit. Prolly the best looking early armor (lvl 8 and continues in diff. forms for some time) is the mnk/sam/nin gi/sitabaki type armor, I have an image attached below showing it. Hrm.. no sorry Mnk/mage really isnt a good combo Mnks have zero starting mp and really dont have boosts in the mnd or int stats, I guess it could be workable for soloing NM's or something... but then you would only be healing yourself, and not your pt, then you might as well use a thf, or war subjob to kill the nm faster and prolly endup better off. Bit more on equip, your can get various belt similar to irl M,artial arts that increase your rate of atk and str starting w/ white belt (get this automatically when ur start as a mnk) then a purple belt, brown belt next, and finally black belt, you get all of these from quests from a sort of underground group called the tenshodo.
    hope this helped

btw- no that not a beard its this stupid headgear I used to wear that was good at the time..
    Attached Files

    Spuncan - Beta 41 mnk - rank 5 - Goldsmith 40
    Spuncan - Retail 73 mnk - rank 10 - Woodworking 63

Heres the lowdown on the Monk:

They start with no weapons and a belt with +1 str. They use knuckles and claws in the beginning. You can eventually get katars, hooks, or these longer claws with only 2 prongs.

They wear Gi's and thats about it. You can equip different belts as you level that are specifically for monks.

At level 10 they learn reverse, and their 2hr ability rocks. It increase their attack speed and you just punch the shit out of everything and get your TP up faster. Later on you get a small healing move, thats where the mnd comes in, and a ki blast, and an extra kick in your attack.

They are great in the beginning cause they hit twice, and you'd probably want to Sub warrior or thief. Monk isn't a good subjob really, you'll probably want to use it as your main and eventually sub sam/drk/war or thf.
