MNK/SAM Best TP battery in the game?

  • MNK/SAM Best TP battery in the game?

    Im trying to plan for the fastest TP gain char in the game. Its my understanding that because monks hit so fast, theyll gain TP faster than any other job. Couple that with sams store tp at 20, and eventually concentration at 60, monks seem like theyll be insane tp builders. Also, Monks get some good multi hit ws, making them just as good as penta thrust right?

    Assuming all this is true, and monks are the best TP/WS job, what race should I be? Dex effects chance to hit and atk speed right? So wouldnt the obvious choice be mithra?

    Monks don't necessarily gain tp the fastest. They do attack twice each round, but each hit only returns like 6% tp. I think any class using a 2h weapon gains tp the fastest, especially a warrior with double attack. Most of the parties I've been in recently, I usually end up doing 2 WS's for every one the other classes do (except samurai of course).

      But...

      Monks miss A LOT less than warriors making it almost gauranteed that they return TP just as much not to mention much shorter delay. Also, at lv 51 they get kick, which means EVERY SINGLE ATTACK will hit 3 times which is much better than the Warrior's occasional double attack. With the SAM TP store and Meditate the MNK would definately be a total bad ass but only after lv 60/30. Also, it should be noted that they could use the SAM ability Heart's Eye which guarantees they evade the next hit which for a MNK means a gaurnteed counter MNK/SAM lv 60/30 OWNZ

      EDIT: You'll also get a shit load of TP return form WS's as well, since they hit more than any other WS.

        Umm, which weapon skills are you talking about? The biggest multiple-hit ws monks have is the 125 grapple, random blow, which hits 5 times and should return about 30% tp if all hits connect. Compare that to a dark's guillo or a dragoon's penta, which can return 40-60% easily. And from what I've read most high lvl monks don't use that anyway, they use their 200 ws which only hits once.

        Also, monks can miss just as much as any other class. Hit rate is dependent on DEX, and monks do not have unusually high DEX or anything. Kick and counter are both very cool, and at high levels monks do hit a lot because of the reduced delay in grapple. But the tp return is so small per hit that I would hardly say they are the fastest tp gainers.

        The fastest tp gain character would have to be samurai. At high levels they can churn out pentas like crazy, almost in succession. As far as tp gain is concerned, it won't really matter what you sub, although something that adds attacks like warrior's double attack or monk's counter will probably help you gain tp faster.

          I believe he's talking about the Law of adverages.

          Sure a dark gull can charge greatly, but you're assuming a lot. Reason people aways try to stack those hit rate up items, which is not the best idea at times.

          You can have great senerios with other classes, but monks are very constant.

          Monks hit twice, and with martial arts, more martial arts and more yet again...I believe they get it 3 times, then you have kicks and the occational counter.

          On active skills you have Evasion, concentrate, to increase chances of the above.

          You have a steady stream of TP going there

          So as a TP battery Monks don't need to rely on luck much. The tricky part will be in the damage to get the TP higher...

          This would be interesting at renkei time. Have to look at that chart <mumble> <mumble>

              also a mnk / sam wanabe, true darks get more tp per hit but take this into account. Monks hit twice and they attack more than 2x as fast as a drk with a big scythe (500+ delay) so I get a total of 4 attacks to the drk's 1... and the accuracy helps a bit too. hard to say I never got the samurai sub in beta....
