    The point isn't the offensive spells, its the defensive/curative ones. Cocoon is a 50% damage boost and Power Attack is the fastest Healing Breath trigger whether its resisted or not.

      DRG doesn't need offensive spells, that's what the spear is for. Like most DDs, when they solo they need more defense and recovery from their subjob, and BLU provides that very well.

        I hadn't thought about Power Attack being a fast trigger, but isn't /BLU a multi purpose wyvern? Or is it defensive? Then there's the extremely limited MP since BLU main doesn't have as much as the other mages to begin with.

        Cocoon only lasts 90 seconds too, seems like more hassle than that's it worth to be, but I have no experience with this so I can't really offer any constructive experiences I'm sad to say.

          Honestly all a drg/mage needs is a fast low cost spell to activate a healing breath.

            /BLU is a Defensive Wyvern, just like /WHM, /RDM, and /BLM. Also, the small mana pool that any /mage job gives Dragoon is relatively inconsquential; most mobs a Dragoon solos on won't last long enough for it to matter. Toss in a Dark Staff, and the issue really goes away rather quickly. If you still want Refresh, pack some drinks. At higher levels, Sanction Refresh and Ethereal Earring also help out a bit. The defensive abilities of /BLU are almost on par with /WHM, and the offensive punch of a few bonus +STR spells, as well as higher base STR, also rounds out the package nicely.

            Cocoon lasts more than long enough for most mobs to die before it wears. It's an incredibly valuable tool.

              Cocoon's cast time is more than short enough to recast during fights, anyways. It's a 2 second cast, and that's faster than Cure 1.

              The only thing /BLU lacks that can really hurt is -na spells and bar- spells. If it weren't for that, it'd be better than /WHM all around.

                blue physical spells acc are dependant on your weapon skill lvl so if you have polearm on it works great. Also alot of blue enfeebles stick even with the lowered magic skill from 37. Drg/Blu is a power house.
