    Re: Dunes Food for DRG?

    If you don't have them already, I'd recommend a pair of Battle Gloves, which are +3 or 4 acc, those should help a bit with any accuracy problems you have, I would also recommend the +str rings.

    I would not advise sushi, I went out to the dunes as sam/war and tried both sushi and kabobs and found that the sushi didn't to anything for me, if anything it seemed that when I ate sushi that was the time I had the highest miss rates >.> So I am not a big low level eating sushi fan.

    I rather liked Rice Dumplings, I used them for a little bit in the low 50s, they are a very nice mix of +acc and +att. If you have a steady supply of them I might go with the dumplings instead of the meat dishes for a bit.

      Jerky is going to be your best (and most economical bet) until about level 20. At that point you should be past the cap for Meat Jerky's ATK bonus, and you'll want to move on to something else.

      People who eat kabobs in the Dunes are amusing, since they are just throwing their money away for the same bonus you can get from a vendor food.

      I wear a Mighty/Vision ring combo during those levels most of the time, so I just eat whatever and rarely have any troubles.

        Re: Dunes Food for DRG?

        I'm personally still finding that Rice Dumplins are out-performing Meat Miths and Sole Sushi on my DRG at 50.

        When using full on meat, I lose the acc and even though I hit harder, I hit less often. When I use sushi, I lose a significant amount of attack but hit slightly more accurately (I already have a pretty solid acc build).

        Even though I've hit the atk% cap on Rice Dumps, the combo acc+ and atk% seems to perform better. I actually found this out on accident while using Sole Sushi in a PT (with the parser on) and accidentally used a Rice Dump. I didn't level or anything, but I parsed higher dmg% when I started using the accidental Rice Dumps.

          How many times do I have to point this out?

          Meat Jerky: http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3717

          * Strength +3
          * Intelligence -1
          * Attack +22% (Cap: 30@136 Base Attack)

          Roast Mutton: http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3722

          * Strength +3
          * Intelligence -1
          * Attack +27% (Cap: 30@111 Base Attack)

          The mutton is pretty easy to get too if you know any chefs. The only expensive ingredient is the Garlic, which shouldn't even be a concern. At most they run for 2k on AH, which while a bit pricier than the jerky, is still dirt cheap for 3 hours of good attack food.

          Finally we have this;

          Grilled Black Hare: http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/3727

          * Strength +2
          * Intelligence -1
          * Attack +30% (Cap: 20@66 Base Attack)

          again, cheap to make if you have any high lv cooking friends (57+) ask them for this. You're much more likely to hit the attack cap on this food than the others in the dunes, which means you'll be getting the most out if this until you hit qufim (unless you're a war, in which case berserk throws things out the window lol)

            Protip: Taverns for low-levels. There is an Inn in North San d'Oria, probably one of the least visited areas in the game, that sells Meat Jerky very cheap which is awesome low level attack/str food.

              Played several jobs from 1-37 that were melee and I started out using Meat Kabobs.

              Later in life, when Rice Dumplings came out, I used them exclusively until LV37 and never changed. I did extremely well w/that food too. I remember playing as DRK and had consistent aggro w/my WS alone and gear set up. This is even in a good party with a PLD tank, so I know my dmg was above par. lol

              Rice Dumplings....... breakfast of champions.

                Malacite, both the Mutton and Hare cap lower than the Meat Jerky, and don't stack. That's why Meat Jerky is so nice.

                Plus, three hour food at that level range is kind of asking to waste your money.

                  Meh, mithkabobs are 3k a stack or thereabouts, and I can never find the jerky vendors unless I'm not looking for them so I'll stick with my kabobs

                  I think it might depend alot on your gear setup, at my highest in the 50s range I had about.... +18 or so acc (life belt, assualt earring, merman's gorget) and a ton of +str, so sushi worked better for me. If someone had two +acc rings, and now with the Jaridah Peti, I think dumplings would be the way to go in the 50s.

                  I was thinking of trying rice dumplings again now that I'm 67 and I have alot more +acc, 38 or so total +acc. Sushi is way overkill now, but I still miss a little more than I'd like to when I eat kabobs, and hedgehog pies are a little more expensive than I like to use.

                    If people are ok with wasting their money, then more power to them. That doesn't mean it can't amuse me.

                      Ever watched melees waste 90k/stack at the time sole sushi+1 on Colibri? Now THAT'S funny

                        Yes, they do. However, the Mutton has the exact same cap as the jerky, thereby making it better since you'll max out your attack sooner by 5 levels! And you won't even come close to the cap on jerky in the dunes, given that the average skill level caps around what, 63/66 by lv 20? You'll actually get more attack from the Hare, or at least get a bigger boost sooner.

                          Unless that was changed in a recent update or something then they don't stack that I remember, I also checked wiki and it said the same (not stackable).

                          Although for soloing at lower levels (mass murdering EP-EM and stuff) those 3-4 hr meals are nice.

                            I meant they both hit the cap lower than the jerky. The mutton gives the exact same attack limit though, but 5 whole levels sooner (25 base attack difference)

                              It's still an inventory hog, and if you die, you lose the benefit and are out of luck. Cheap low duration food that is stackable makes a heck of a lot more sense to me at those levels.

                                It's not an inventory hog if you only carry 2. If you die twice in the same session, it's good to have an excuse to leave that party and go back to town, and when you get back, find a different party. It is the dunes, after all.
