DRG AF1,with another job.

I currently have the AF1 quest flagged.
My question is can I get the "Polishing Stone" with another job combo?
Because I lvl a job for one week,then switch to my main tank for another.
My only other job combo is PLD/WAR(which I've been gone for too long).
And current lvl with that will put me in Altepa.

The only AFs for any job that require you to be on that specific job are pieces of AF armor acquired from Coffers. I don't recall if any of the arena battles require you to be on a specific job (such as SMN and SAM), but a few of the AF3 battles do require you to be on your chosen job (DRG AF3 in particular requires you to have your wyvern out and alive at the end of the fight, as I recall).

To answer your specific question, I don't think you have to be on DRG to clear the AF1 quest.

Do it on another job. I did it on my RDM63/BLM31. For DRG AF1 that is. I kited the ant to the Korroloka Entrance to avoid links and fought it there. Was a long fight due, I wasn't hitting it very hard, but saves asking people to help.

What level is your PLD? With some yagudo drinks at level 60 you should be able to take it on fine, just watch out for being petrified/severely poisoned and the overpowerful Shoulder Slam (killed me lots of times when I soloed nearby ants as DRG).

Got it last night finally!

Could not beleive it, just got off a 12 hr shift and logged on to take a look.
Another DRG there for AF1 too,and a very patient PLD whose help
won't be forgotten(don't wanna post his name till I get the spelling right).

This is actually untrue. I'd heard it a few times before that your main job at the time didn't matter, and that there was actually a set precedence as to what items would pop from coffers. I myself popped my Temple Gloves from a Crawlers' Nest coffer as a RDM/BLM.

Wait, the gloves? If it's gloves it's a key item, so that don't really matter. I mean, everyone has the same quest for their AF gloves, you don't pop it right out the coffer, but only the key item out of the coffer.

True, I suppose it was the key item Old Gloves. But I had long since had my Warlock Gloves. It isn't possible that the coffer yielded Old Gloves because it saw I was on my RDM and that it's intent was that I get more Warlock Gloves.

It must be that for any quest-related AF (AF1, AF2, AF3 and AF4 I believe) you can get it on another job because you have the quest flagged, regardless of your job. When you pop it straight out of coffers, though, the only thing it has to go on are your job and level.

- If the quest involves a key item, you don't need to be the job after getting the key item.
- BUT If the AF quest requires the two hour (ex: DRG and BLM AF3), you need to be the job.
- If its a coffer, you need to be the job.

I know all about the old gloves becase you can run around as THF and just pick the coffers...and still get them!
