  • Maat @66

I was reading the other Maat posts and didn't really find out the answer I was looking for. I am going to attempt to defeat Maat at 66. I will give my current gear setup and then ask a few questions.

    Head: Walkure Mask
    Neck: Merman's Gorget/Spike Necklace
Ammo: Balm Sachet/Happy Egg/ Bibiki Seashell
    Earring1: Assaulte Earring
    Earring2: Mermans Earring
    Body: Feral Jerkin/ NQ Peti
Hands: Feral Gloves/ Custom M Gloves/ Carapace Gauntlets
    Rings: Woodsman x 2
    Back: Amemet Mantle
    Waist: Life Belt
    Legs: Feral
    Feet; Feral/ AF Boots
    Weapon:GKL

    Few questions:
    1) Switch to Cermet Lance +1 for more dmg/
2)@66 should I just go all out on att and hope to kill him fast?
    3) How much will I miss him @ 66?
    3) Please make any suggestions on gear. I have opo necklace, blink band also.
    Thanks for the help.
    Thanks Kazuki.

    Re: Maat @66

Why would anyone ever want to fight Maat at 66? Sure it's possible to win and all, by why not maximize your chances to win by waiting for L70? You don't get anything extra for going early.

I won my first try at 66, just have an opo opo necklace, icarus wing and some sort of potions and you'll do fine.

You don't loose anything either, so why wait. If you want to do it, go have fun trying.

You lose your testimony and then you have to go and farm another one, which could potentially take hours.

Two or three Penta Thrusts will kill him. Don't bother with anything involving letting your wyvern tank, that's old.

                  Re: Maat @66

DRG in my LS recently dropped Maat at Lv.66, here's his run down he put on our LS Forums. (All typos/misspellings are his own. haha)

I decided to challenge Maat and I won on my first try as a 66DRG! I only survived with 65HP, but I won. I beat the record of 5Min 27Sec, my time was 4Min 40Sec.
I went as DRG/WAR because SJ still affects what Wyvern you have (Offensive, Defensive, or Multipurpose). Here was my gear setup:

                  Grand Knight's Lance (Acc +7)
                  Bibiki seashell (VIT +4)
Carapace helm (DEF:23, latent effect: Atk +10, Def +23)
                  Merman's Gorget (DEF: 7, Acc +5)
                  Wing Earring (AGI +2) lol
                  Optical Earring (Def:1, Acc +1, Atk -2)
Carapace breastplate (DEF:44, latent effect: Atk +12, Def +44)
Carapace gauntlets (DEF:16, latent effect: Atk +8, Def +16)
                  Sun Ring (STR +3)
                  Venerer ring (Acc +3)
                  Amemet Mantle (DEF:7, STR +1, Attack +10)
                  Life Belt (Acc +10)
                  Tiger Trousers (DEF:29, Atk +4)
Desert boots (DEF:11, HP +10, AGI +1, In sandstorms: movement speed +12%) It was sandstorm weather in the BCNM Cheesy

                  Preparatiopns:
I equipped an Opo-opo necklace and used 2 Mary's Milk for 100%TP. I used a Tavnazian Taco for defense, and Periskos Au Lait for regen. I bought 8 hi-Potions (that still wasn't enough). I already had my Wyvern out before I entered and waited 20 mins so I could summon him if he died or I used Spirit Surge.

The Fight: Throughout the fight I took 100-125 damage per hit (~250 from each of the 3 criticals) even with my Defensive gear and food. I also used my Hi-Potions throughout the fight.
I equipped my Dune boots because it was sandstorm weather, otherwise I would have worn my AF boots (The fight was in "Chamber of Oracles"). I engaged Maat and wited for him to summon his Wyvern. When he did, I Penta Thrusted it while still targeting Maat so my Wyvern would use the breath attack on Maat. The Wyvern survived with a sliver of health then I used jump on it to finish it off. I then High Jumped Maat. I was low on health at this time and ran out of Hi-Potions so I used Spirit Surge. After a few hits I had 100%TP again (Spirit Surge gives you your Wvern's TP which wasn't much) and I Penta'd Maat again I used my Icarus Wing (forgot I had it lol) and Penta'd Maat one last time to finish him off. First 2 Pentas did ~300 damage, and 3rd did 520. It was enhanced with the carapace gear because my HP was 65 (5%). (I should have used Super Jump to shed all of my hate, which would make Maat attack attack my Wyvern. Then call another one when it dies and use Spirit Surge. This was the purpose for equipping my Dune boots to run away after I lost hate. I always forget to do something lol.)
I dunno if I would have done it, then again I went as RDM. I wanted all the chances I could to do it my 1st time, and even as well prepared as I was, I lost my 1st time.

At least the other things which could potentially take hours are (hopefully) productive. Farming back lost testimonies is not productive if their loss could have been prevented by not going too early.

I suppose it's another thing if you're in it for the challenge. If you, however, only want to do it at 66 because you "want to get over with it", I strongly recommend you don't go ahead and do something so dumb.

Thanks to everyone who gave helpful responses. If someone doesn't want to fight maat at 66 its cool. If you think I am dumb, thats fine too. I will let you guys know in about a week how it goes. When I am done crafting I will exp.
                      Thanks Kazuki.

                        Re: Maat @66

I'd recommend you go in with under 500TNL, and use an EXP scroll if things are going too slow for you to kill him, which will level you up (stat increase) AND give you all your health back.

I'd go with a mostly ACC/ATK equip setup, if three pentas can kill him, go in and sleep to 100 with opo, run up and WS him, Icarus wing and penta again, Jump, High Jump, Spirit Surge, third penta ftw.

                          Re: Maat @66

The way the fight is set up now, with Spirit Surge available, doing the fight at 66 is a lot easier then it used to be.

If you go in with an Opo necklace and sleep to at least 100tp, gear almost won't have a bearing.

I would recommend defensive food like a taco and of course a pamama/persiko au lait. Along with that take an Icarus wing.

The basic strategy is as follows.

Go in, sleep to 100+, engage and Penta, let him and his buddy hit you for a bit but don't let your wyvern get hate, when you get low use Spirit Surge, jump, high jump, penta, ic wing, penta

The important thing is to save jump for after SS so you lower his defense. Its possible for the second penta to kill him, if not, the third should do the trick.

                            Really good suggestion.

To the OP, good luck. Focus all that hatred from LB1 and beat him like a red-headed steptaru.

Well I got my test last night and fought the old bastard. Heres how it went. Sleep to 100tp. Ate Sis kebabi, used Blink Band. I ran in and used Penta on him for about 500. He called his wyvern. I popped and icarus wing, Penta did 88......... He started to whoop up on me so I Spirit Surged and did my two jumps and hit him with another Penta. It did around 500. If my 2nd penta would have done worth a sh*t then I would have won. Oh well, my ls needs to do somemore skilling up.
                              Thanks Kazuki.
