Right now I'm at level 61, and I'm planning on taking a bit of a break from leveling dragoon in order to do some other things, but this means I'll have more time/inventory room for leveling my subs.
Right now, the only fully leveled subs I have for dragoon are warrior and red mage. I love warrior, I love it dearly, but I know once I get to level 65, I get wheeling thrust, which would benefit from have SA to add to it, that being said... Which should I be thinking of using at 65? and might as well toss in /drk, I haven't heard too much discussion on that in awhile
My thoughts on the matter:
Warrior is a good damage output sub. I have heard that wheeling thrust is a naturally highly accurate WS that doesn't miss that often, so I don't feel the need to stack SA with it just to make it hit. However, I do realise that with SA I can macro in all of my +str gear, which is already fairly considerable now, but once I get the new ToAU neck and belt items, that will add another +6 or so to my str.
However I am skeptical as to how much extra damage I'll see from using SA+wheeling thrust. I hear on average that it does about 400-500 without SA, and 600-700 with SA. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But it looks like I can only boost my WT damage by about 200, maybe more, but at the sacrifice of berserk and double attack, which are just huge for my per hit damage output.
I'm kind of expecting to see that all of the per hit damage that I forsake by going from /war to /thf, will be made up by SA + wheeling thrust, in which case I consider it a moot point and would rather go as drg/war.
And I might as well ask about drg/drk, I'd have to check the spells they get, but if I were to macro in a bunch of +int gear, could I get an absorb spell to stick?
